See this is the thing .....

BMI Healthcare quoted me £10,500 and said I would see Mr Akhtar.

Well I just spoke to Weight Loss Surgery Group and they quoted £8,995 and I would see Mr Akhtar.

Well this is a no brainer really isn't it?

Would anyone NOT recommend WLSG?

Hello

There has been much discussion on this forum regarding THG, some that have had surgery there (good and bad aftercare) and others that havent had any op's there but heard of bad after care etc.....but at the end of the day its going to be your decision and how comfortable you feel with THG. I myself have not been with them but I just want to wish you well in what ever you decided.

All the best - MeJulie xx

:)Hi Karen-not a pain at all-your posts do a lot to support & inform others

Yes it seems an obvious choice - but imagine if they were the same price who would you chose ?

If its the higher price no harm in asking if they will "price-match"

LOL looked at their websites and they didn't seem to be the same people. That's ok then.

Now just need to find someone that's been through WLS Group.

I had my bypass through WLS Group, I was very happy with my surgeon and very happy with the care I received in hospital. Wendy at WLS is very nice and helpful.

If I had one complaint I would say the after care ain't that great. I had one appointment 2 weeks after my surgery that consisited of just answering a few questions and discussion on diet. There was no medical aftercare. I received a weekly phone call from Colleen for a few weeks, then once a month, however this month I had to ring her as I had not heard from her for a while.

There is a group meeting every 2 months, that I have not attended as I have been notified too late to attend.

I would recommend WLS Group, however I had a different surgeon so cannot comment on that.

Thanks for that hun.

It says there is 3 years aftercare within the price. Strange they put that in and then don't provide much aftercare.

One plus with WLS Group is that although I would have to travel for the op, the consultation and aftercare would be at a private hospital very near me.

Hi Karen
I am 5 weeks post op with WLS group, i so far have no complaints, i had Mr Ackroyd surgeon, who is also surgeon for NHS bariatric surgery, my aftercare so far has been a face to face appt with bariatric nurse, and weekly phone calls from colleen and emails, but i can contact them anytime if i need them. It say in aftercare package that i can see medical team if deemed necessary, but all in all am very pleased with them.

xxx

Thanks Mona. I spoke at length with both Coleen and Wendy yesterday and I was very impressed. I can choose Mr Ackroyd if I wish - I may do if you recommend him.

Hi Kelly. I emailed his private secretary yesterday evening. Not heard anything back as yet though.

Well no reply to my email to Mr Ammori's secretary which I'm a little surprised at to be honest. I mean it's not like I'm after a quote for a few hundred pounds of building work or anything. This is nearly £10k and it's life changing surgery!

I shall phone her tomorrow as I've left it too late to call now. All I can say thank godness her boss has an exemplary reputation.
