Bring on the Trumpets!
My first night swimming with my friend, we did 14 lengths of a 25metre pool! Not bad for first attempt...feeling good about this :) Just wanted to share:)

fantastic hun, well done, x

yeah i started swimming a couple of weeks ago i am now doing 25 lengths .well done swimming brilliant form of exercise xx

Excellent news Caz - keep it up! I started out at 12 lengths and am now up to 20, adding 2 each week, I go 3x per week now! I love swimming, but I hate getting out of the pool - I always feel soo heavy and have to drag myself up the ladder!

:)Well done Caz & thanks for sharing - it inspires me to at least "think" about going swimming!

Fantastic news and big congratulations :)

I'm still too self conscious to go again :(

Don't be, I am still huge and still got a long way to go. I went with a friend who is big too and within minutes of being there we relaxed.

We had put it off 2 weeks already due to nerves and feeling self concious.

But as I feel now, I am doing this for me, the worst people can do is stare but hey ho...its my body and my fitness.

I am pushing myself harder than ever as I found out my my birth mother is back in hospital with heart trouble. She had a heart attack at 50! So I am at risk and damned well going to do all I can to make sure it doesn't happen to me because I have choosen not to look after my body.

well done you!! i love love swimming but im to ashamed and embarrassed to go out in a cossie... god just the thought of it brings me out in a sweaty mess haha hopefully something i can do at a later date... but thats fab news! swimming is ace keep it up :)) xx

Mixman, check the rules at your local pool as you are allowed to cover up more these days...

These are the rules from my local pool.

Do you wish you could cover up a bit more at Woking's Pool in the Park?
The traditional swimming costume doesn't hide much and many people are put off from swimming by the very fact that they have to show more of their body than they are happy to.

Well not any more!
Pool in the Park have altered the guidelines on what types of swim wear is suitable at its pools.

The types of clothing that would be acceptable to wear in our pools now are as follows:

Specifically designed swim wear
Leggings or Lycra based tracksuit bottoms an example would be Ron Hills
Lycra based tops or rash vests, both long and short sleeves
Hijood / Burqini - or specifically designed Islamic swimwear

Well done Caz !! I started swimming as soon as I could post-op and do 24 lengths at the moment but I plan to increase it to 32 (half a mile).

Well done for starting swimming, I love it but haven't been in years, I do want to start again but know I won't until I get some weight off...don't want to get mistaken for a whale & harpooned! xx
