The gurgles!!

Hey everyone. I had my band fitted on the 15th December and am having a few noisy issues!! My stomach won't stop making awful noises! It sounds like a washing machine emptying! Also am having a few issues.... "going" is this normal?! Is there anything else I can take for this? Thanks, Luce x

Hi Lucy

The noises are perfectly normal so dont worry about them. You could try taking lactulose at first for the 'other' issue and then if that doesnt work movicol x

you will poo for britian then lol

my stomach has also been gurguling loudly, gets a tad embarrasing in public lol

Mine too . . . sounds like I have an angry lion somewhere inside trying to get out at times. Always when I am somewhere quiet too!

Yesthis is turning out to be rather embarrassing! People are asking me if I'm hungry all the time! X

Yeah ok Sarah what about u? I'm starting to get a bit funny about food, I know it's all psychological but it's as if I'm scared to put anything solid in my mouth! Have pretty much lived off tomato and chicken soup since the 15th and know that as of wednsday I should be on softs but am a bit scared! Also keep getting a sharp pain in my left rib cage so looking forward to speaking to my provider about that when I go in 2 weeks.
When are u due for ur fill? Have u had anything to drink yet, like a glass of wine? Luce x

Hi Lucy, I'm doing well, I started solids 2 weeks post op, so eat most things now (apart from bread, rice and chips), it's a great feeling to eat something different. To ease your fears maybe start on something like scrambled egg and use a teaspoon or kiddies cutlery set so you don't put too much in your mouth.

My mum came to visit last week so we went out for a meal, I had a starter (prawn cocktail) with a jacket potato, and needn't have ordered the potato as it was far too much. But it was good to know that socialising won't be a problem. I haven't had a drink yet, I'm not much of a drinker so I'm a little worried I'd end up legless on 2 sips!!!

Does the pain in your rib cage feel like a stitch? I think it's a common complaint, I get it (but it stops when I change position?) and I've read other banders comment about it. It'd be interesting to find out what it is.

I was supposed to be at the hospital on Friday for a check up and so they could decide what fill I'd need, but I didn't dare take more time off work so I'm not there until the 27th. I think I'll probably get the fill a couple of weeks after that. How about you?

Good luck with the solids xx

Two weeks after the op?! Wow! I've been told no solids until
My first fill on the 24th! Are u nhs? I think I'm going to try some mashed potato tonight and cheese... Going to go crazy! I think the pain in my rib cage could be where the port is, it's still very swollen and tender to touch but the surgeon also found I had a hernia when performing the op so this too had to be rectified! So what's on the menu for u today? X

I've noticed every hospital seems to have differing diets, I had to go private as I couldn't get funding. Are you missing solids? You'll be surprised how nice something so plain will taste, I hope you enjoy it.
I've had a wrap for lunch today, I halved it and put coronation chicken in one half and prawn mayo in the other half, the prawn mayo was rank so it went straight in the bin (however I found that 1/2 a wrap was enough to fill me, that was very pleasing). I think that my taste buds are changing.
Do you find you're still swollen? I think I am, my tummy def seems bigger than it was pre op and I've lost weight. Have you weighed yourself or are you waiting for your next app? Take care and enjoy your potato xx

Ooh that sounds amazing, the one thing I have been craving has been pitta bread, but I love them toasted with tuna, chicken anything really but I guess that's still too hard yet. I went private too, it's crazy how different each provider is! Starting to think mine is too cautious! Also, ive weighed myself, I've lost 2 stone now since the 1st December and I'm so pleased! What about u? X

How was your potato?

I was 19st 1lb at my initial consultation in Oct, and I'm now 17st, so I'm really happy. I still can't believe I've been banded, it all feels surreal. However, I'm starting to look back at how huge my portion sizes were and can't believe I could ever eat that much. xx

Are you on facebook? I ask as there's a 'hidden' group for us wls peoples, and one of the threads is about drinking after being banded. If you want, add me as a friend (just press the F under my name) and I'll add you to the group.

Also, keep posting on here, you're nearly at 50 now and it'll open up new areas of the board xx

This is all so helpful! One of my questions is def about the drinking,I drink quite a bit,and it's a friends birthday 28th jan and i think they're going to notice if I'm not drinking..I can try and disguise a cranberry for a vodka cranberry!

Also, when you say the group is hidden, does that mean my friends can't see that I'm in the group for example?

Good to know exactly what you're both going through x

Hi Leonie, not long to go for you, how're you finding the pre op diet, which one are you doing?

The facebook site is hidden to everyone except it's members, so your fb friends won't be able to see it :) You can add me if you wish and I'll add you to it.

Keep posting on here, once you get over 50 posts the site really opens up, everyone on here is a great source of info and support xx

Doing a slight mix,on the milk diet, no carbs, no fizz, but still having satsumas and a soup for lunch for energy..lost a couple of pounds but only just come off of MTOTM which is annoying as it makes it harder to gauge!

Thanks for the info Sarah :D

Oh well done u! I was 19.2 before Pre op so were pretty similar! How can u tell how many posts ur at? Im using my iPhone so think things are a bit different! Wud love to add u on Facebook too :) x

Lucy it's under your name, I can see you've posted 59 times, so hopefully you'll be able to have access to a lot more of the site. Just click on the F under my name to add me as a friend. If you search for me, my fb name is sarah metcalf and my profile pic is me standing infront of my house wearing a purple jumper and black scarf.

Ooooo I got on the scales this morning and I'm 16s13!!!!! Chuffed to bits, but I don't log it until Friday (i weigh myself twice a week) as my weight can fluctuate inbetween xx
