I'm 5ft 2 and was 20st with BMI of 51, I was asked to lose 2st pre op and due to pancreatitis I have lost a further 1.5st. My surgery is on Monday and ill probably be approx 16st 4.
I have had colleagues ask why have surgery and just keep doing what I'm doing. But for me it's never been about losing it (I've done it loads of times lol). For me the surgery is to KEEP IT OFF!!!
I'm pretty much the same as rudders! I'm 5'2 and my pre op was 17 st exactly (I'd put on 4lb) I have no co morbities.
I'm having op following bad accident which has left me unable to exercise at all other than swimming so my added weight of 4 stone since the accident (in a plaster cast for 11 months) only adding to my already badly broken leg. If I lose the weight then my symptoms will
Improve and most importantly- keep it off!

Hi Hun,yeah no problem,I am now 6 months post op,and have lost 4 stone, haven't lost it as quick as most people, around about 1,2 or 3 lbs a week, think its because I didn't have a massive amount too lose, can't complain tho,I'm still losing steady and only about 18 lbs from target,I think the younger you are is a big factor on rapid weight loss, unfortunately I'm the wrong side of 50!
Also I have done liquid diets a couple of times so my body is used to living on 600 cals per day, still having said that things have gone pretty well for me since the op and I'm happy with my progress,as is my surgeon.good luck Hun.x
My BMI was 37 on the day of surgery but at 5ft 10 my weight was 18 stone 7 lbs.
I lost the first three stone in 12 weeks - with no fill in my band and have been maintaining + or - around 7 lbs a BMI of 25 or around 12 stone 7 lbs, for nearly three years !!! xx
My weight was 16.5 stone day of op and have lost 5.5 stone in 5 months. I was considered to be a low weight for nhs surgery and was told the loss would be slower but so far so good!!
Not had my op yet. I am 5ft 3 and was 27st7lbs with a BMI of 68. Due to various health issues I need to get this down to 50 before surgeon will do my bypass. I am sitting now at 21st8lb and BMI of approx 53.5 so not too far to go now. I should add that I have had the gastric balloon fitted for 3 months now...just another 3 to go
When I was bypassed I was surprised how small done if the ladies were. I was expecting bigger patients but one or two were a 16-18.
But they all had their reasons for needing this tool and it could hace been due to ither factors. This was at SRH. Everyone big or small was lovely.
I was about 16 stone when I had my op. I lost a stone and a half pre op. I am private too. I was BMI of 41 when I saw consultant.
I am a year out on the 4/5/13 and am now 9stone 5oz.
