Hi there !
It is Jo, I'm afraid, Lizzie's Mum! You are all so kind - she is still in hospital and can't get access to the internet! She is walking a little using crutches but is in so much pain all the time from her pelvis. The hospital are ensuring she has 90 - 120 grams protein per day within 1000 calories as recommended by the dietician. She says that she doesn't feel so weak now but is getting very bored of the repetitive menu! We've really got to get our heads around how to get this amount of protein in each day within the calorie restriction - it certainly leaves no room for manouver (sp?!!) What a wake up call! She is having physiotherapy and will have to do specific exercises to give her some core stability to stop the same thing happening again. She isn't getting much sleep and is not a very happy bunny!!(who can blame her?). I know she'll be back on minis asap. I have just ordered her some of the Protein shots 25 (I think that's what they are called) - the ones that HC had at the Birmingham meet up. I hope I have ordered the right ones - I think that Phatgirl said that that they wouldn't make her 'tingle' as the 'protein slam' shots did. I have also bought her some of the roast soya nuts - she loves them. Unfortunately TESCO have now discontinued them but --http://www.peteshealth.co.uk/soy-nuts.html I have found a site to buy some from. Thanks for whoever put the tip about them being a good source of protein on the boards!!
