Sorry you are not feeling well at the moment. Do you think it is your bypass or could it be a bug you have picked up. If you are in doubt it would probably be a good idea to contact either your surgeon or your gp. I haven't had my op yet but hopefully you will get well soon.

get well soon.

There are many reasons you might be vomitting, most of them are not serious and can be avoided. Here is a list, see if anything rings true.

1. Eating too fast. Try putting your fork/spoon down between bites.
2. Not chewing 20 or so times per bite. This is a must for any type of meat.
3. Eating dense/stodgy food while your pouch is still swollen.
4. Taking too big a bite. Should be the size of a rubber on the end of a pencil in the early days post-op.
5. Eating too much at one sitting. Never take more than 15-20 minutes to eat your food, you pouch is full after that time so if you keep eating more you can become too full and vomit or you can stretch out your pouch over time.

All of these things can lead to vomitting. And once you vomit, you can irritate your pouch lining which can then cause you to vomit the next time you eat, thus creating a vomit cycle. The best thing to do is give your pouch a break and do liquids/really sloppy purees for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in regular food, one item at a time.

If you believe that you are not doing any of the above things, you should conatact your team and advise then that you are being ill frequently and see what they want you to do. It is always better to be safe than sorry. Also, if I remember right you have had some post-op complications which could be making you sick now??

Please make sure to let us know how you are doing, it must be scary to be ill so often. Hugs and I hope you feel much better soon.

HTH,
Nic
