Hi all,

I've only just been referred by my GP, but I've read a lot about baloons?....some times offerred preop?

Has anyone had these?, thing is I am petrified of a general, I have a 10 month old daughter and I just cant bear thinking of the worst...

I thought this maybe a suitable alternative?

thoughts?

Balloons are only a tempory solution 6 weeks they are usually only offered to people with a really high bmi to get the bmi down before surgery they have no long lasting effects x

I was offered 1 before my bypass to get my bmi down and could have kept it in for 6 months, but I lost enough for my surgeon to be happy to proceed without by the time I had my 2nd appointment with him. No doubt some people will learn better eating habits whilst they have it and will stick to them but I would think the majority of people would just revert back to normal once it wa removed.

i agree tara its a tempory thing, the effects dont last its great to get someones bmi down b4 a bypass but thats the only thing it has going 4 it x
