have been speaking with me mum today and i said i so wished i had a bypass or at least offered one,
:sigh:

Oh Emm don't get disheartened so soon out of surgery!

I'm sure whatever is making you think like this will soon get better, keep your chin up girl xx

i know i guess its from the slow weightloss so far, i keep thinking negative thoughts like, oh i bet im the small % that it wont work for etc ... being silly really.

xx

Hun the by-pass doesn't guarantee a quick weightloss. I am over 5 weeks post op and have only lost just over a stone. At first it really got me down but thanks to the support and encouragement I have had from everyone on here, I realise now that every single person is different in every way and you just can't compare yourself to anyone else. You just have to rewind a little and not be so hard on yourself and expect too much. Keep your chin up hun.

Slow weight loss is so hard to accept when we have gotten our hopes up. I had a bypass and spent weeks 2,3,and 4 stalled and no weight loss. It was a grim time, but I learned as we all do, that you just have to keep going and give the op a chance. Please don't be too disheartened.

Hi Emm , no-one was any more disheartened than me , post op , i was convinced that it hadn't worked and doubted if i even had a band , as i could and did eat anything and everything , no wonder my weight loss was so slow , its hard to read everyone elses weight loss's when your not losing , i was relieved to see the band in place at my 1st fill this week , but now i feel the difference and i am much more possitive that i can make this work , please try to stay possitive as it will effect your food intake , i know its easier to say than do , as i am a prime example i was so down , but now i'm on the way back up . Good luck x

The bypass doesnt ALWAYS make you lose shed loads of weight really quickly, it can go slower.
Take me for instance, I am just about to be five months out from surgery and have JUST hit four stone lost. Now I know that this is a lot of weight and I am truly thrilled about it, but when you see people that have had the surgery three to four months ago and have lost SIX stone plus, romping ahead of me, well, it can make you a little jealous and disheartened.
So I class myself as not one of the fast losers but you know what, who cares!! Losing is losing no matter how quickly or slowly you do it, hell, I would accept crawling to goal as long as I get there some day.
The comparing an torturing yourself is realllly counterproductive, I know because it is how I was.
You'll get yourself into the right headspace soon I bet and you will do wonderfully.
Take care and good luck xx
Steph xx

hi emm,
i know exactly how you feel and ive had my band 7 years now!
i was never offered the bypass, but im going in for it now, as ive had the band 7 years and my weight has been up and down, right now i weight just 6lb less than i did when i had my lapband surgery, thats 6lb in 7 whole years!! ive tried to work the best i can with my band but i hate it now, its given me nothing but trouble and heartache, the bypass is my last hope, but i havnt been accepted yet.
good luck, its dosnt work for everyone but that dosnt mean it wont work for you xx

Emm. I am almost 9 months post op and have lost 3st 10lbs. Now that's not a huge amount compared to some but it's a loss and with a bit of luck the saggy skin problem won't be so bad. If you eat the same sort of foods as before then no it won't work. It's not easy - I could kill for some bread as I've not had any since my band was fitted - you have to have some will power and when you fall off the wagon just get back on. It's really early days for you and I am a bit concerned that you feel you are failing before you even get started!! A band won't work for everyone but not everyone will work with a band. Yes some people have problems but that doesn't mean you will. You really need to give it a chance and grab the opportunity that you have been given. Work with your team and the people on here. I'm sorry if this sounds harsh but this is such a great opportunity please try to make the most of it.
