Hello everyone I thought I would let you all know how my journey is going, well I started in April at the GP surgery my Gp is the most fantastic doc ive ever had he had me in weight management for 6 months where I had a weekly weigh in and at the same time he refered me to the team at Dewsbury hospital for me to have the surgery.
So far ive been to the hospital and have seen the encronologist doctor who decides if you are the right person to be put forward for the surgery he said YES, then I saw the obese specialist nurse which I have seen 3 times now and then the dietitian who ive seen twice. My encronoligist doc wanted me to have loads of test done which I have had they found i have sleep apnea and also reactive hypoglyciama and also I had that but hypo pylora or something like that lol, Ive had the anti biotics for the bug i have the cpap machine for the apnea and I have a special blood tester to see how my sugar in the blood is doing.
Went today to see the dietian and ive lost half stone for me is good and was told that the surgeon is going through the list quite fast as they have a new surgeon on board yippeeee they seem to be on Feb list and im April. They will all have a meeting everyone who is looking after me to decide when I get to see the surgeon have my pre op and then bobs your uncle a slot becomes available and if im there on the list and its my turn I have the surgery.
My next appointment with the dietitian is in Oct and she is going through the pre op diet the milk diet and I will know more then, I just wish I had more support at home everything is going fast and the rollercoaster ride has began so im prepared for the bumpy ride I have a head of me. Cheryl xx

Sounds good :D Its good they have added an extra surgeon to get through the list quicker. Some people have to wait such a long time. Sorry to hear you dont have much support at home but you deffinately have it on here...good luck and I hope you get your date soon :D x

Hi Jacque,
Yeah its good that they have set another surgeon on, still going to be a while though but at least its moving lol, faster than I thought anyhow lol but I will keep you informed, I get support now and again but I think he aint got a clue sometimes lol as he comes out with shall we order a curry for tea or do you fancy a chinese NOOOOO then Yeaaaaaaaaaaaa grrrr NOOOOOOOOO im sure you know what i mean xxxxxx

Sadly I do lol, Im on the milk diet and I cant tell you how many times my hubby has diced with death  He has never had a weight problem so he has absolutely NO idea about it ......men, who'd have em :D x

Oh I know mines the same he does try and help but make sthings worse I think he tries to sabbatage me sometimes though so im keeping close eye on him lol, oh wow your on the milk diet my dietitian is going through all that with me next visit in Oct you will have had yours by then, not long to go for you hun eh good luck, how long from the start of your journey did you have to wait?.

All in all getting on for 2 years...I did have some mis-haps though with paperwork being "lost" etc, so that slowed me down, would have been 18 months probably :D x

Omg lost paper work glad they found it hun I started in April I have my funding already from the PCT my GP is amazing he got me that in june so thats one thing out of the way I still have to see surgeon but that will probably be in about 2 to 3 months i must say all the weight loss team so far have been amazing such lovely people I was really scared at the begining thinking that they were going to judge me and say oh we will try some more pills or another diet but no they all agreed now is the time for my surgery im only 38 and im housebound and have been quite ill through all my weight they said 2 years and I will be a new person gosh I hope so, the first thing that im looking forward to most is going for a lovely walk with my dogs without pain little things but the best in life as I cant even walk without pain at he moment .xxxxxx

Chezez, you sound very much like my dear friend Lisa aka wannabeslimagain, you should (when you have made 50 posts) message her. Lisa will tell you she was virtually housebound and not very mobile at all with a lot of health issues. Lisa had her surgery last November and is already the new woman you speak of. In June last year Lisa did the race for life (5k walk) and is a fantastic inspiration to not only me but to others who know her as well. Her life has turned around 100%.... Sorry to go on about her, can you tell i love and value her friendship immensely?

Let Lisa and all the other Lisa's on here be your inspiration and help you on the road to a 'normal' life...

Good luck on your journey, enjoy the ride xxx

Welcome to the family Chezez... we'll help you all we can... sorry to hear of all you have gone through....

I should have had my surgery last year.. but had a brush with cancer.. so it's been on hold... hope to get it this year...

You will soon feel part of our family, and we share warmth, love and all of our daily troubles to help each other through...

Look forward very much to linking in with you...

Love and hugs, Bev xxx

Hi Rosie,
The dietitian is called Vicki and she is lovely but I think she may be going on maternity leave soon I didn't see the physiologist as i said I didn't want to or need to. I was in hospital for 4 days and i had my own side room which was well worth the wait as i waited in the arrivals lounge all day for a bed lol, they didn't say how much i had to lose just as long as i should a loss which i did i lost after my pre op diet half a stone and they were happy about that so just as long as you have shown some significance loss they are happy. The whole team are brilliant really make you feel looked after, hope you get in soon love when have they said it will probably be your op xxxx
