new here/pose procedure

Hello!
I'm new here.
I had the new pose procedure done last saturday.
It was painless apart from a sore throat which wasn't too bad and had gone by monday.
It is very early days and I probably have swelling but the restriction from this is amazing!
I am still on the fluid/very sloppy food stage and can't take more than a couple of spoonfuls before i feel full. I have never really felt full before so this is great! I have not felt any hunger at all since i had this done.
I hope it lasts.:)
Has anyone else had this procedure?

:)Hi & welcome D:)

I've not heard of pose procedure-will go & google now!

Hi Dumplin

just read about the pose procedure, never heard of it but it sounds interesting. where did you have it done?

Thanks for the welcome.
I had it done at spire hospital southampton. With Mr James Byrne (who was excellent) i hadnt heard of it either until the beginning of this month. I saw it on the bospa website.i was one of the first few to have it done in the uk. There are no long term figures yet as its so new but i'm feeling confident it will work. I am impressed with it so far!

Well done for taking that step, i hope it works for you, what does it involve exactly, as i have never head of it too
x

I just googled it lol..........sounds really interesting....no cuts! Brill..........did you have it private or NHS, hope you dont mind me asking :D x

well, it was under general anaesthetic. They go in to your stomach through your mouth with a tube that has channels in it theres a light, camera, grasping thing and a stitching thing all in the same tube then they pleat it and put little anchors in place to keep the tissue pleated. It reduces the size of the top of your stomach.
there's no incisions or cutting. simples!

I dont mind you asking!
i had to pay privately it was just under 6 grand. the nhs turned me down for funding a band. My gp was trying to appeal and i was gaining more and more weight. then i saw the pose procedure and went for that instead.

Sounds good to me dumplin and welcome to WLS site.:)

Hey that sounds great and not as expensive as some of the other proceedures.....I hope it carries on going well for you :D Maybe pose proceedures is the future.....or is that garlic bread ;) x

if it works it could change so many peoples lives. it seems to be so safe. theyve taken nothing away so if anything goes wrong it can all be put back to normal. the only real risks are that a, it wont work and b, the usual general anaesthetic risks.
wow! I have just had my dinner carrot, potato, gravy, broccoli and cauli cheese. pureed together and sloppy with gravy. it was delicious! i managed about an eggcup full :-O i feel like iv eaten a 3 course meal. i really hope this isnt just swelling and its for keeps.

Firstly dumplin welcome to the site, i hope you will be very happy here! In fact i'm sure you will as we all love it and have regular group hugs...

Well done on your wls, i have to say i think you are very brave trying a new procedure which you have had to fund yourself. Enjoy the lovely feeling of a little filling you, it's the best feeling in the world isn't it!

Looking forward to seeing a lot less of you, in the best possible way of course xx

Welcome to the site Dumplin
I think you are a pioneer of the pose procedure and I look forward to seeing your progress

pioneer is a good word! thanks all of you for being so lovely and friendly. It isn't easy to talk about my wls with just anybody. The few people i have told have been quite negative about it. its nice to be accepted and not judged. x

Welcome to the forum Dumpling, its great hearing other peoples experiences and pose procedure does sound a good way forward for people who dont want the full bypass.
looking forward to watching you on your journey

jayne

Dumplin i was wondering if you know how much the stomach capacity was reduced by? I have watched the procedure video and know a number of anchors are placed but just wondered what the expectation on reduction was.

Hope you are doing well Dumpling... how are you getting along... good to hear from you xxx

Hi,
well they said around 30% but it seems like I have about 30% of the space that i had before. The swelling seems to have gone now. I can eat about the same sized portion as my 6 year old son. actually he can eat a little bit more than me :D. my family are amazed as I used to eat man sized portions:eek: The best thing is that I am enjoying my food but getting a "STOP EATING!!!" signal that I have not ever really had before. x

Thanks dumplin. Now i know i am going to have a consult with them. if it's not suitable i can still consider other surgery options. Ta
