I've never done this nor do I have any idea how to, but the "five day pouch test" is supposed to regain restriction if you feel you've lost it. Google it. I think basically you go right back to basics and start on liquids again as if you'd just had the op, but I'm not clear on the specifics...
I also stalled after about two weeks out. Not only stalled; I gained 3lbs!! Panicked! Upped my fluid intake and it started moving again.
It's very normal.
Family all know. Some close friends. Some others on a need-to-know basis. The general public; No. Especially not people who yell at me across the street: "Hey Ruthie have you had a bypass?" Then I can truthfully say no, because I haven't, and if she'd asked me in a nicer way I might have told...
A stone a month is really amazing but I never ever lost that much. True I had less to lose, but even so, I think the most I lost in any given month was about 6lbs and I was rapt if I lost that much.
Pretty much exactly what I say if they ask me "How did you do it?" instead of "did you have a bypass/band?" I just say "I am low carbing and working hard at it," which is 100% true.
I didn't see the point in admitting to any kind of surgery. This wasn't for work, it was a direct inquiry as to whether I'd had the bypass. I recovered so fast and so discreetly; I didn't even miss one week of synagogue attendance. I could have said "I had help but don't want to discuss it," but...
Someone asked me outright if I'd had surgery.
Last time it was a friend of mine, who called me at home after seeing me at a dinner. I was only a couple of months post op then, but it was the first time in years I'd dared to wear a belt. She asked me if I'd had the gastric band and I...
You've had MAJOR SURGERY...you can't expect to feel amazing right away. Take it slowly, rest up, take little walks, take all the painkillers they let you take, it DOES get better all the time, and when it does, you'll suddenly realize why you've done this :)
Sometimes the surgeons "specialize" in one or the other procedure, so will try and talk you into their favourite operation, and it has nothing to do with what's best for you, only what's easiest for them.
That's why I chose a surgeon who did all the procedures and could advise me without...
Caren: you deserve everything. I remember how hard it was for you to get funding and how long you waited till you got it. And look at you girl! You've lost 106% of your excess weight and you look amazing! Are you at goal now or do you want to lose any more?
I definitely feel hungry. I wish I could forget to eat. Sometimes I wonder if it's habit, but if I deliberately don't eat, I do feel it. However I get full up very quickly.
I have no idea how many calories I take in but I once put down a typical day's food and someone worked out it was about...
Where did my thread go?
About a week or maybe more, ago I started a thread about a lady who stopped me in Tesco and recognized me only from my avatar on this forum (at least I thought it was this forum, she said it began with weightlosssurgery or WLS and I don't belong to any other forums with...
Yes, your question was somewhat vague! If you are this close to your op and don't know anything about the procedure, maybe it's time you did some research? :)
I'm a sleever but I remember feeling very low about 2 weeks out. I had a bad attack of Buyer's Remorse and felt generally miserable. Then I attended to the vitamins I was taking and found that most of them were weak and basically useless. Once I changed them for more potent ones I started...
Today I was in Tesco Brent Cross when a lovely lady stopped me and said "You don't know me, but I know you from the weight loss surgery forum" (I *think* it was this one!). I was so impressed; she recognized me solely from my avatar picture which is about one inch square! She is due to have a...
I have a sweet tooth too, AND a problem with portion size, and yet I chose the sleeve because it wasn't as drastic as the bypass and I didn't like the idea of having my intestines replumbed. Also dumping and malabsorption issues worried me. I have lost all the weight I wanted to lose; can live...
I am shocked to read of such a callous uncaring surgeon. To be honest if it were me, I wouldn't want to put myself in his hands. I know you are NHS and don't have much choice but this would be a major turnoff for me.
I also went to Mr. Sufi, like Sharonimo, but privately, and I went armed...
