just got a phone call from spire murrayfield,
i have got an appointment for the 8thdec,
it is going to involve a video of the opp
blood test, and i have to take a list of meds i am on
and also fill in a questionar.

can anyone tell me what happens after this appointment please.???

do i have to go the hospital after this appointment
on another
date to see the surgeon again???

Hi I had an appointment at murrayfield on the 3rd nov and had the same watched a video bloods ect and saw surgeon
Then u get another appt to see the anesthetiser and surgeon I had mine on the 8th nov
But still waiting for date for surgery as got to have sleep apnea test which was required by the surgeon
I was told I get a date by jan 2012

another letter.

after reciving the phone call about my appointment for the 8thdec.
i recived a letter in the post and it has 3 forms in it.
the first one was
1. assesing you for admission.

2.registration form.

3. important patiants information.


1. report to recepition.

2. one of the gravitas team will come to collect you to take you to a room were you will be given a group presentation about different types of weight loss surgery. bring along a partner or friend,
if poss bring along something to take notes.
there will be an opportunity to ask questions.

3. after the presentation you will be taken to see a doctor and a dietition who will assess you by
asking questions about you,
your current diet and your medical history,
please make a note of any medication you are on.

4. you will be seen by a nurse who will perform some blood test, e.c.g. and other investigations required.

5. you will be at the hospital 2-3 hours.

6. befor you leave you may be given another appointment to be assessd by a concultant
surgeon and an anaesthetist,
this appointment is usually within 2-3 weeks.

7. youll hear from us within 4 weeks with a date for your surgery.

so that is it up till now.
i know what to expect and i hope this
can shed a bit of light for somebody else
who is thinking or going to spire murray field. xx

hi every one,
well i went to my appointment at murrayfield,
watched a video on different surgerys,
seen a dietition,
seen a surgeon,
it has been decided that a gastric bypass will be the best
option for me which i had wanted anyway so thats good,
and i was given a sheet with the pre op diet on,
its a low fat one so not to bad.

i now have to wait for a appiontment to see a anethatist
which i am informed should not be long.

feeling happy about it and how it went,
so just waiting now for a phone call or a letter.xxxx

Hi Lynda,

I'm Lou and I think we are at the same stage in things. I'm with the spire Manchester.
I did the group info thing weeks ago, then last week I had my bloods done plus an ECG, swabs, Blood pressure etc, I'm hoping to see the surgeon next week (if they can fit me in) then get a date for surgery early Jan.
Isn't it great when you wait such a long time then things start to moue.
