Trying to stay calm, but boy have the nerve kick in now! Not scared of the op or anaesthetics but really scared about the pain post op. think I'm letting my mind race away with itself. Roll on Tuesday, then I can't turn back!:(

I so relate, but the mind crease a fear that is far worse than the reality. Even knowing that I still was feeling as you prior to surgery, and would still feel that way if I were to have more.

Hang in there :)

I totally agree with TK, things are often nowhere near as bad as we think they will be. Good luck xx

Just don't be shy about using pain relief if you need it. I've not needed any painkillers since I got discharged 2 days post op. I took everything whilst in which helped loads and also meant I basically slept for the best part of 48hrs. Some people don't even notice the pain.

I also had this fear but it really is nowhere near as bad as you are imagining, and they control any pain so well anyway.

You have had kids I am guessing from your picture so you will be absolutely fine - it is NOTHING like that !! ha ha !

Good luck x

I thought I'd be bad but atm I'm fine and excited about Wednesday, maybe that will change in a day or 2, I hope you can find some way to calm yourself as its been said its the fear of the unknown.

I can relate to this, but i had my surgery on Tuesday and have truthfully had no pain. I can't guarantee you'll be the same but I really hope so :) I can feel my left incision (the one the stomach was removed through), but no pain. I haven't taken any paracetamol today as no need. Good luck and try to keep calm xx

Good luck audrasharon- this time next week I will be feeling like u r tonight!!! I a being sleeved on mon 25th not, still calm at the moment!!! All the best, hope all goes well xxx

I had my sleeve done nearly 5 weeks ago. I had calpol on the day of my op then no other pain relief. I could even sleep on my right side straight away.
Take it as it comes. If you need pain relief take it, and if you are like me and cannot stomach soluble paracetamol then ask for calpol.
Good luck everyone x

Well done emma7799, I am pleased to hear you only had a little pain post op and cal pol -what a fantastic idea!!! Never thought of that - I'm a nurse and a mum of 2 kids!!! I hate dissolvable paracetamol so thanks for the tip!! Xx

That's 3 of us that are nurses with kids all having our surgery this month. X

Wow can't believe that!!! Must be all the irrational shifts ect that lead to us being larger!!! It certainly isn't all the running around we do -we should all be stick thin!!! Hehehe

Hi all, I'm pre-op too, I'm having a bypass on 24th at Chelsfield Park. I totally relate....I know I am doing the right thing when I think with my head, but when I think with my heart I am scared that I am making a mistake. I get caught up in the socialising around food, the drinking wine and all the fun times I have with my friends and family. I know my health is the most important thing, but I worry that I will be miserable!! I know it doesn't make sense. I never realised how emotionally attached I am to food.

Your right silly shifts, eating silly times and grabbing easy food oh that and I eat to much and snack. But 24 years of that has helped! X

Not long now hunni x :)
