As i'm a veggie and probably going to end up having a bypass(all being well) I was wondering what I will be able to eat after as protein is mainly found in veggie cheese and pulses for me as I don't do eggs
I can see i'll be a major problem for the dieticians:8855:
I'm not a vegetarian but due to a previous surgery ten years ago which left me unable to tolerate any kind of meat, chicken and fish I can relate to you. Because of these problems I had I've been unable to get myself to try any of these things as I was in severe pain after eating them and till now I've been unable to take that risk
Since my bypass I've been worried I'm not getting enough protein so I've been having yoghurts milk and cheese plus slimfast drinks to get my proteins. Lental soup is another thing I eat. I don't think being a vegetarian will hamper your recovery if you have a bypass you just need to be careful your getting all the things you need.
Quorn is very low in fat and has got lots of protein in it, my parents have a lot of that as they a veggies- you would have to wait until you are on the food stage though.
Do you eat fish? (some veggies do?) I think that is good for protein.
Yogurts for when you are on the liquid stage, you can the yoghurt drinks, - because they need to be runny.
And as Alia said you can get protein drinks.
Good luck
