Hi
I'm not very good on this iPhone sorry.
I was size 32/34 when I had my op - a duodenal switch part of which is a sleeve.

Have a look at my photos - have lost over 13 st so far
BMI gone from 62 ish to just over 26.
Not easy - but I've no regrets having lots of restriction for some reason just now - was nearly sick yesterday for the first time in months.
Hope this helps a bit
Xxx

Hi - I'm a 32 and having my gastric bypass op 21 Feb 2011. First referred in April, had first lot of appts in August (seeing dietician, nurse, group info session and seeing consultant. Got my 'Preparing for Surgery' session this Thursday, not sure what that involves, I think it may be another group session. I was told at the session in August to try and lose a bit of weight, even a stone (I've managed 11 pounds so far so will be severely dieting for next 5 days! lol). Then pre-surgery checks 21 Jan then under the knife a month later!
Hope you have a good journey hun.

I was a size 28/30 before my band 18 months ago and I'm now a size 18/20. I only waited 10 months from seeing my gp to having my band op. I don't regret it one bit and would do it all over again if I had to (hopefully I won't). Good luck on your journey xx

Technically i was wearing size 32 clothing but i think should have been wearing larger, as i have lost 4 stone and my clothes still fit!

I had my op abroad and it went perfectly, my bmi was 62 i think but the surgeon said out of all of us (3 of us had it done that day) my op went the best, i think it also helped that i am young (22) and dont have any co-mobilities.

I'm sure youll be fine hun. xxxxx

The surgeons do ask you sometimes to try and loose some weight before the op. Some set targets but mine just asked me to try my best, and I was warned if I put weight on I might be taken off the list......that worked :D XX

my mate who doesnt come on the site hardly anymore had the sleeve fitted in Jan 2010 and has lost 10 stone, she waited about 10-12 months roughly .... :)

I think i will wait for xmas to be over then put my diet head on and get started, see if i can loose some before surgery.
Thanks for all ur comments x

Wow, thats great, hope i can follow in your footsteps x

I was (well still seem to be) a size 32, my op was technically more challenging but went fine. The more you can loose before surgery the better for you but dont worry about doing it if you dont need to, my hospital dont require you to loose anything before hand. You will need to do a longish preop diet to shrink your liver (every has to do a diet preop but the bigger you are the longer you may need to do it). Everywhere varies a lot though so see what your team say to you.

Hi im a size 30/32 and have been waiting 10 weeks now and still waiting for a date to start my 6 months specialist weight management course xxxx

I was also a size 30/32, I still am in most things. I think I was overflowing my clothes, there was not much I actually fitted in properly. Im 9 weeks post op bypass now and most of my clothes are really loose on me now, I have some smaller sizes too....couple of 28's and even a couple of 26's that fit :D I waited apprix 2 years for my op, but it would have been sooner if I hadnt had a few c*ck ups along the way from my GP and the hospital  The waiting was horrible but I look back now and it seems like it wasnt that long......weird how looking back makes it seem closer! Your time will come, I know it seems like it never will sometimes. I was so impatient I used to get really frustrated but here I on.....post-op :D XX

i was at least a 30/32 clothes size at the time of my op

my journey started march last year, i got my funding approved in july (after a few speedbumps), had consultation in august, therapy session in october and got my surgery date thorugh in the january which was for march this year.

I have currently lost about 8 1/2 stone and this was the best decision i ever made as far as i am concerned at this moment in time :D
Clothes sizes have changed loads
Tops - now size 20/22 - was size 32
Skirts - now size L/XL (us sizes) - was 5XL
Trousers - can fit in the size 24 at a squeeze - haven't worn trousers in about 10 years lol

Best of luck with your journey x

Hi Joanne, Im a 32 and saw my surgeon end of September. He said he wanted me to loose as much as possible before surgery as he will not do it. Am/was so scared I had waited all this time so I have been on a huge weight loss diet. It is so so hard though, my OH cooks for me, but I have lost 23lb so far. I should be having my bypass or sleeve (which the surgeon said he will do if my BMI is over 55 :( around begining of February 2011. I really want to get off as much as possible.

Im hoping that I keep with the healthy eating till at least my pre op. I dont want to go back, im going forwards and hopefully "down in size!" LOL.

Claire x
