Asthmatic Banders?

TMD68

Six Month Post Op
Are there any banders out there who are also asthmatic?

How has your asthma been with the weight losses?

I'm asthmatic but not yet had my op, I can only imagine my asthma will get better with weight loss, however mine is pretty controlled anyway. I only have an attack if I come into contact with cat/dog/animal hair or have had a particularly bad chest infection. Hope that helps! x

Hi TMD, I have brittle asthma but have only just had my op (8days) so can't answer yet about the effects after weightloss but can only imagine its going to be alot better. Less weight to carry around means alot less pressure on the lungs so if I finish up with asthma instead of brittle asthma it will be a bonus to me. Good luck with your wls journey and when I've lost weight and feel some benefit i will be sure to let you know. xxGaynorxx

Gaynor - what is brittle asthma? I have ordinary asthma and I'm hoping a bypass will help it. Zxx

Brittle asthma is very hard to control asthma. Twice I have nearly lost my life through it. No matter how many steroids, inhalers or nebulisers you have there is no way you can get an attack to calm down unless you are put in icu on life support. I do have little attacks which can be controlled and these are equivelant to a normal asthma attack.I've explained this in simple terms as this way its easier to understand(for simple me anyway lol)
