BAD NEWS SOOOOOOOOO ANGRY

But do i need to appeal as i have not been seen by anyone only my gp/practice nurse thats it !!!!!!!! walsall pct say i will still go on 24 weeks specialist weight management programme but what happens after the 6 months ???????

PALS Really helped me, I was "lost" in the system for about 3 months and PALS sorted it out for me and even though I didnt make up the full 3 months they got it so that I got through a little bit quicker, and I got an apology :D XX

walsall pct have told me i can expect at least a 3 month wait for an appointment for specialist weight management programme ,but what when i finish the programme THEN WHAT !!!! surely its more of an intrest to nhs to treat over weight people who are bound to get co-mobidities over time than actually waiting till they have them.....

Well i finished my 24 week weight programme 16 weeks ago and Dr Heartland said he was going to refer me for weight loss surgery but i have not heard nothing yet i have rang the pct sent letters rang Dr Heartland and have got no where i have give up hope now of getting surgery and have started WW again because i am so desperate i dont no what else to do xxx

I would ring again and ask for an answer to some questions,ie why have they not answered your previous phonecalls. Maz x

There is another list of co morbidities that may help if you need to appeal, have a look through it and see if you have any of them. The system is getting really stupid, having to have a bmi of 50 and a co morbidity i am sure one or the other should be enough. I know the bmi of 50 was enough for me.

It depends on your pct, not the hospital. Which pct are you under?

Where I live in Gloucestershire, they have changed their criteria twice to my knowledge in the last year. In September WLS was for people with BMI over 50, now apparently they have added 'at least 1 co-morbidity' Acfcording to my practise nurse they recently referred someone with BMI 50+ and with type 2 diabetes and this person was refused! I accept in this day and age there are cut back everywhere but this is so shortsighted. WLS saves money over the medium and long term.

Why not try asking your GP to refer you to Heartlands Weight Management, I know walsall manor hospital are having a bad time right now with being over whelmed by patients, and Heartlands have had a complete new unit designed for weight management and had new funding etc, it might be worth a shot!!

hang in there..............
