Q: How is the band adjusted?
Adjustments are mainly carried out by our specialist nurses at your nearest clinic. A fine needle is passed through the skin into the access port to add or subtract saline. Local anaesthesia may or may not be needed. This process usually takes only a few minutes. Most patients say it is almost painless. We can also adjust the gastric band under X-Ray if required.

Not going anywhere!
Hi Julieann - I had my first band fill under x-ray with The Hospital Group. Although they arranged the appointment with me I had it at another hospital near there.
As I have a fair way to travel, I try to book appointments with the dietician and band fill team on the same day; especially with the price of petrol and working full time.
Any further band fills will be done at the Hospital Group; only the first is done by x-ray somewhere else.
