Better option than the hospital group

Hi Ive a consultation with the hospital group on the 15th of November . After reading quite a bit on peoples experiences with them I'm a wee bit aprehensive about going with them for my surgery .Can anyone recommend who to use I'm coming over from N.I for my surgery.

Hi Kevinireland, I (and many others on here) had surgery with Mr Ammori at the Spire hospital in Manchester. Could not fault the op. I had consultation on the Thursday, op on Friday. No problems at all. My appointments were arranged through Marcus Landauer who was extremely helpful.

Mr Ammori is the "daddy" of WLS, he is one of the pioneers and there are loads of people on here that would agree. I would deffinately reccommend him ...... I think a lot of people booked with him directly too. Good luck XX

you had your operation just a day after the consultation? what about the two week liver shrinkage diet?

If you book with Mr Ammori direct his secretary sends you the diet sheet and tells you when to start it.

I booked direct with Mr Ammori at the Spire like Biggy123 and it cost £9,650 all in for a bypass with 2 years after care.

He is great and so nice. Actually there was a guy there at clinic this time who had come over from NI.

Also you could look up Weight Loss Group - they quoted me a little extra but they don't have Mr Ammori on their books and I really wanted him to do the op.

Hi Kevin

I seem to remember you saying you were wanting a band not a bypass? might be wrong.

Anyway there are lots of providers over here but as you live in Ireland I would recommend finding one that offers aftercare near to you. You dont want to be flying over for appointments all the while.

I had my band fitted with WLS Group and they have clinics in Ireland, not sure if you are North or South but they are in Belfast and Dublin.

Guys thanks for all you informative and brilliant replies . Today i contacted Mr Ammori and was chatting to his private secretary she was great and was able to explain quite a lot . The only real concern that i would have with going with this consultant would be the aftercare having to travel to Manchester for fills . After spending the day researching and reading i think the WLS Group might be the best option for me there aftercare seems great and they have a consultation room in Belfast . Thanks again guys you have all been fantastic.

Oh now then, time frame. Well I wouldn't be able to wait and would want asap. BUT why not after and you can enjoy a last christmas lunch?

If you have it done before christmas you will probably still be on restricted foods on Xmas day.

Well they both have advantages and disadvantages If you have it done later you can enjoy a last christmas dinner Lovely!
But if you have it done before you can start your journey earlier and from what I understand you dont get a fill right away so you will still be able to have a christmas dinner (maybe a little smaller though) Hmmmmmmmm......decisions decisions Good luck deciding XX

i had a bypass with WLS group back in July of this year, and i can honestly say that everything went amazing, i dont have one complaint, their after care is pretty good too, my bypass was £8995 with them

Yorkiegal, as Karen said, Mr Ammori's team sort all your diet plans, pre-op questionaires etc over the phone and by post.

Ive just been speaking to the WLS group and they were really great on the phone seemed really informative they seen to think maybe the sleeve or bypass would be the best option for me I've a bmi of 50.33 . They seem to think going to Belgium would be the best option for me i can understand were there coming from as I'm going to have to fly were ever i go . Has anyone been to Belgium with the WLS group ? Anyway I've a consultation in Belfast on the 24th will let you all know how i get on .
