i ave just been informed that i ave getten the money for my gastric band :8855:, now i just need to finally make a choice on where i want it done!! i am wantin to go to brussels to get it done but my mam dosent she wants me to stay in the uk nd get it done, t only difference is the price but i am just wondering if anybody has had their surgery at the BMI healthcare clinic nd wot they fink and wot is the after care lyk?? any info would be great

im not to sure on the answers to your questions sweetpea, but id like to say im with your mum on this one! at least god forbid if there s any probs its in the same country etc for the aftercare... good luck with everything xx

Just wanted to wish you good luck but I cant really help with your question as I havent had any dealings with BMI. I dont actually recall anyone going through them either. Could be wrong though, Im sure if there is anyone who can help they will be along x

thanxs for the replys peps, my doctors has refered me for nhs fundin in sunderland but my first appiontment is not til 27th oct so i am lookin at least anouther 18 month 2 get sum were wif them nd then i could b refused so have taken the steps of payin for it my self!! hopefully i wil of made my desion soon nd be all done nd dusted in a couple of weeks x

Yes I did but I didnt go abroad just up to Preston for my band (cheapest clinic at the time). I have been very pleased with everything x

Hi, BMI are a private company that has changed ownership a number of times over the last 10 years. I use to do some work for them a few years ago and whilst the care is good generally (had my hysterectomy with them) they are not weight loss surgery specialists and their surgeons tend to be general surgeons rather than bariatric specialists.

We all have to make our own decisions about how we progress our surgery options but I would want to know that my surgeon has done lots of these proceedures before rather than a few.

Not meaning to sound judgemental, rather supportive of our collective need to ask about the experience of those we trust our lives to. xx

Have to say i'm the same it's not an issue with surgeons abroad i'm sure they are great, it's more about your aftercare and if there are any concerns at least in the uk you could be attended to quickly xx
