depends if you have open or lap surgery. Gather it is more common if its open surgery, but quite complex if you are having lap. Guess it depends on the circumstances and the surgeon's choice. Mr Somers mainly does lap now, so not sure if he always whips out the gallbladder these days...
Hi
I had my bypass keyhole by Mr Ammori and i still have my gallbladder intact did'nt get asked anything about it but in fairness i've not had any probs with it touch wood x
I don't know for sure but would have thought if its not giving you any problems then it stays. I'm a bander but just can't understand why they'd take it out for no reason. I'm sure someone will put me straight lolxx
i think in some case they take it so as they dont have to do it at a later date coz i think you can get stones in it of ya lose weight to quickly and that causes pain and then it needs to be removed i think not sure i could be wrong lin.x
Mines gone part and parcel of the surgery. Mr Pollard says he always takes it out as he has seen patients returning with gallstones so he does it to avoid another op. He only does open bypasses though so that might be why
yep thats right people who loose weight quickly can get gallstones so sometimes they take it out. think i was gonna have keyhole but now open and hes gonna take it away to. good riddance lol.xx
