So after reading up is it true i wont be able to have coffee/tea/diet coke etc etc for 3 months after  tbh if i can't then i cant!!

I've already weaned myself onto decaf coffee so I'm prepared for after my op. I don't want to add to the 'stress' lol!!

Thats what i thought lol!

were you told no caffeine? I'm allowed tea and coffee and I've had my bypass less than a week ago. What I'm not allowed, unless I let it go flat, is diet coke. I used to chug back 10 cans of that a day but I've not missed it at all so far.

No, i haven't been told it is just what i have read. I do love my coffee!

Iwas given coffee and tea while i was still on the ward. diet coke or any fizzy is a no no. xx

Who the told you that!!! Tea and full caffeine coffee were given to me on the ward. Nobody ever told me not to drink them
In fact I think they were the only thing keeping me going for the first week

Coffee made with milk is substitute for food. when you have wls. xx

Absolutely BRILL :D:D:D I would've missed coffee more than food lol :p

Oh this is good news for me too, I like a milky coffee once in a while. :)

milky coffees are helping me to get my protein in the early post op days. couldn't do without them.

Now as my surgeon would say ''get off that bloody google and stop scaring yourself''

LOL @ Yorkiegal!! How do you know i am googling :0)
I am going mad here, i just want this to all go ahead...i am going insane with all this wls in my head!

I have all my milky drinks as coffee, I did get told on the onset that they can upset ya tummy.... I can't handle three shots in my costa any more :-( only one :) xxx

they haven't upset my tummy so far but I have found that the heavy feeling occurs more when I've had a milky drink and I burp a lot afterwards.

I've had tea n coffee with caffeine since surgery. Tbh i tried decaf coffee at work last week but i'm packing that in. What's the point if i don't get the kick?

No fizzy drinks though x

the best thing about diet coke is the fizz. There's just no point to it flat is there?

Yorkie? I had a sip out of a bottle a couple of weeks ago and tbh i thought it was cr@p. I used to love it, now i'd rather have a skinny latte or glass of squash... or even a apricot/peach fruit shoot (see now i'm getting the big boys out lol) xx

I wouldn't trust anything the ward staff try and give you unless you have checked with your team first.

At Homerton the ward team tried to give me a full dinner just a couple of hours of surgery and then offered me a meal every mealtime the next day. They then failed to give me 'allowed' fluids apart from water until the day I left, even though the surgical team kept telling me i needed to get these other products (yoghurt, soup) in.

Be on the safe side and check with your team.

I try and stick with decaf tea and have done for a couple of years now, even pre op, because I have a heart problem. Caffine is also in things like chocolate so if i have a little i don't feel like i'm overloading on caffine.
