Can you saute without butter

I like to make soups, bit the base of them usually involves me sauteing onions in butter. I like the texture that butter gives a soup, in the absence of cream etc. Is there anything ont the market that gives the flavour of the butter, but without the fat?

To fry onions etc., I use the spray light. Not quite as good as butter but nothing is!

yes, You can buy a 'buttery' flavoured fry lite.
as Gilla says it's not the same, but better than nothing.
