Before surgery i used eating as a comfort thing, felt down, nibbled. Got bored, nibbled.

NOW WHAT CAN I DO?

I'm going NUTS! Evenings are the worst

find a new interest, come on here talk to us, play a computer game, do a cross word, any thing really that interests you and will pass the time away when you other wise would have been nibbling, its hard to get used to this big change of life style but it does get easier as time passes.

I have thought about this too. I seem to spend my whole life shopping for food, planning what to cook, cooking it, eating it and then tidying up. At the weekend we usually watch Saturday Kitchen ( OOOHHH!! James Martin !!) and then we go shopping and cook something we have seen on the telly for tea. Its going to be a big change. Perhaps keeping fit will fill the gaps?????

go out for walks drag the other half out or the kids if its early evening, and nice weather. Or as has already been said find something that interests you readying, dvd's knitting, video games ect

I find exercising is taking up my down time but not all of it, i still relax on here looking for new cloths ect

I know how you feel. I seem to spend my spare time eating. My plan is to have no spare time. My next door neighbor has said she will walk for an hour a day with me (doesn't know about surgery). I have a wii fit so that will get used. I also work form home so I think I may have to lock my cupboards and only take me lunch out. Then hubby can take key to work. I may only be joking at the mo but will defo resort to that if it helps. I am not spending all this money to fail . lol.

I'm gonna stick this on my kitchen cupboards and fridge door.

Thanks everyone! Its so true, it is the biggest thing to try and fight, filling in all the time we spent on eating and planning etc, i honestly am shocked, you don't realise how much time you spend on thinking about eatting and eatting until you diet or have surgery.

Quitting smoking was a breeze for me but then food came in to replace the smokes, need to find something new again, but healthy this time.

Hey the wii fit sounds like a fab idea, my kids are addicted to the wii at the mo so could get them into keeping fit with Mummy, my other half is getting a bit of a tummy now so will drag him out and about with me.
