Since yesterday I've been feeling itching and scratching my arms and legs red raw. It has increased more today.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hun have u eaten something u dont normally eat and it could of caused an allergic reaction, pls take an anti histamine like piriton to stop the itching, and hope it eases up soon xxx

Oh yes for the first few months i itched non stop. My GP put it down to my skin changing. It got so bad post op once i started on my suppliments etc. Mr ammorie changed me from lanzoprozol (sp)to onsoprozol(sp) as itching can be a side effect. That didnt make any difference but using aqaouse cream(big tub from chemist less than £2) 3 times a day as a moisuriser with a little teatree and lavender helped immensly. it has now settled down but did drive me mad especially during the night.

I see you are on a liquid diet. I have come across others on here who have developed an inch to the diet...most were find after the first week or so.

It is very important on a liquid diet to make sure you are drinking enough water and space it out over the course of the day.

There are many causes for the development of a rash which may be due to infection as well as allergy (to foods or other environmental allergens such as washing powders). Some people are allergic to some ingredients used in some Cambridge products. Check the ingredients list and if see what happens if you avoid products containing suspect allergens. Food allergy should be properly investigated and allergen free diets should be based on sound scientific tests

Cambridge Diet: Consumer FAQs: Side Effects: I have developed a rash, am I allergic to the Cambridge Diet?

Here are a couple of threads where other members on here suffered with itchy skin, mostly it seems on the first week.

Hi Roch,

Not something I ate, think its more likely to be combination of the pre-op diet with my medication. My mum reminded me I had this problem 2 years ago when I tried to SS, and I was on a lost less meds then.
Thanks I found some antihistamine dr gave me for hayfever. Itching a lot less now :).

Hi hopelesscase,

I'm on Lansoprazole, I use to be omeprazole but my dr said the do the same thing only they are cheaper.

I'm wondering if the itching is because I'm on very little food and lthere's little to line my stomach as usual for these side affects of the meds. Think I'll speak to my gp as I can imagine it may get worse after bypass.

Thanks Mini,

I'm a old hand when it comes to CD lol. Never had a problem with CD in the past. I'm currently following the 810cal.
had a problem withCD in the past. I do stick to the lastose free.

I have really severe itching periodically, due to low ferratin levels. I agree with slapping on the aqeuous cream. My Gp prescribes me one with Menthol which works instantly to stop the scratching and can be used repeatedly opver and over - just a thought if it does not improve- which I hope it does.
xx

Thanks All,

Itching is much better. I mentioned it to my GP yesterday and she agree I should take Antihistamines. So I'm a happy bunny :).

Piriton is a life saver for me, i have had probs b4 with itching. Am pleased ur less itchy now xxx

Hi Roch,

Yes, thankfully it much better. Thought I was going take my skin off with all the scratching lol.

Does Piriton make you drowsy?
The one I take doesn't cause drowsiness. I drive so I asked for non-drowsy.

I think I read you take Morphine. I take Oramorph (contains morphine), if I take it after about 7pm I can't drive the next day morning.

xx

Their are all diff kinds of antihistamines if the one u r taking is still making u itch then try a diff one, the majority of them are non drowsy.
At one time i thin i got to used to piriton so instead i tried tesco own and that did the job for me and stopped the itching within an hr.
I take oxycontin which is from the opitate morphine group tabs am only on 10mg twice a day at the mo but i am waiting for a call from the doc in the morning to up my dosage as it is barely taking the edge of the pain, the doc did say last week he will up the dose as he wanted to start me on a low dose first but as i was having terrible side effects of being sick i was 2 scared, but now am on anti sickness and that has stopped the prob so now its def time to up the dose.
Take care hun xxxx

sorry if I am repeating anything others have said but didnt want to read and run
Do you think you may have a milk sensitivity, are you on the milk diet, if not sounds like something else is causing a sensitivity check with you GP and hope it gets better soon.
Get yourself some Piriton, they are anti histamines and will stop the scratching

Hi Fairy,

Not on the usual milk diet as milk doesn't agree with me. I'm on CD'd Lactose Free Shakes. I'm an old hand with CD and have had them before.

Itcing and scratch has stopped now I'm on antihistamines :).
