cost of a private by-pass

Have to say I read this post earlier and was at a loss for words on how to answer it which is not like me, silver surfer has said it just right though.....xx

This reminds me..Was talking to my doctor the other day and she has a letter back from the pct and they said it costs up to 25,000 pounds and I was sat their slightly dumbfounded as to where the hell they pulled that number from???

WL18 - When you say free do you mean you had your op on the NHS or someone sponsored you.

If you mean the NHS be careful, we all pay our taxes and NI and i wouldn't consider a 10k op paid for by the humble tax payer as free !
You may find yourself winding people up saying it was free ! though thats just my opinion though

I must agree with Silver surfer. I wouldn't consider my years and years of contributions as leading me to a free service. Although some people NEVER pay tax and IN so for them it would be free.

Thank you for all the posts on this subject. I have found them all very helpful.

I suppose they could be including all of the aftercare etc into that, and things like the pre-op psyche eval/dietician/weight management course, but even then it sounds like a lot!

i paid 10,450.00 through Surgicare, i had Mr amorri and two years after care.... worth every penny.....

I feel very lucky to have Mr. Ammori performing my surgery through the NHS in 9 days, he seems to be a leader in the field with lots of experience. The surgeon I was originally sent to had never done the surgery and would have been a novice, I doubt that happens much in the private sector!

Mr Ammori hand stictches and does not use the staples, when I asked him about this he said he only knew of his mentor who is now retired and one other surgeon. So its nice to be different!..good luck..xx
