hey all.
Just need some advice on dieting, meals plans, set meals, exciting food that isnt packed with calouries.

i havent had my op and at beginning of journey but want to lose some before i see consultant so they know im serious and also cuz tired of getting bigger and bigger.

I dont eat fish, so nothing with fish in please.
Plus i cant digest eggs, mushrooms or peppers.
Can eat stuff with eag in e.g mayo, cakes etc but not actual eggs.

Struggle to eat in the morning but seem to wake up and eat without remembering. grrrr so annoying. plus i live on my own so hate cooking for just myself. but i know i need to change my eating habits so advice from pre and post oppers would be nice.

hi,

I think the best thing you could do is look at the post op eating guide (google) and choose some stuff off of there as everyones different in what they think is a nice meal lol, it will also put you in good stead for life after the surgery and help you get to grips with cooking smaller portions for yourself xx its good that your trying to lose weight but you need to be careful that you dont lose too much as you might be rejected for the surgery as your bmi would no longer fit the criteria, on the other hand if you can lose the weight on your own than thats brilliant x i wish you all the best x

thanks hun will try that. my dietician has reassured me that they will take my bmi from the date i was referred. it doesnt matter if i lose weight as they know that isnt fair when im trying. obviously if i got to my ideal bmi on my own then ye no need 4 surgery lol. but that aint going to happen i can garantee that haha. but i did say to him about me losing a bit for the surgery and then they say cuz its not over 40 that they cant do it, but he said what i mentioned so its all good :) thanks for advice, really need to stop putting on more and more weight, just like my biscuits toooooo much lol xx

your welcome sweets, Thats brill that they wont stop the surgery in the event that you make good headway with your weightloss....i always found that part of the critera very strange so glad some Docs have finaly took the time to realise just because we might be able to lose a stone over a few months doesnt mean all of a sudden we can keep it off or keep losing so i'm really pleased that your docs are encourging you to do your best x hope you find a menu to suit lol i'm still on the boaring chicken sometimes i go crazy and have a garlic flavoured keive lol xx well its the little treats now that have to make me happy ) before the bypass it was always a Large home made chicken curry with copius amounts of poppadoms and lashings of sauce ( i miss it soooo much) but i dont miss my hefty tummy so you win some you lose some as they say x all the best hun & if you need to chat always post or drop me a line xx

ye i was very very surprised to hear that they wont throw me off the list. guess its just a case of being a yoyo fatty lol. our start bmi's are very close. what size clothes were u in at your heaviest? oh god i know im guna miss the food but long run its either the nice treats or my life :(
I dont work i dont go out, i cant walk more than 5 mins without being tired and the worst part is the sweating, its so embarrasing.
I just really hope they hurry up and help me, because being big isnt fun and ruins ur whole life quality.
please tell me a bit more about ur expierience, im so anxious and wish the time would just come that i could have it but also worrying about complications after the op. :( dont wana die. lol im a drama queen haha xxxx

i know it sounds odd but i joined weight watchers as it is free at the mo and they give all the guides for what foods to eat and some meal plans and some recipes and it was really helpful they even have portion amounts so well worth it

hi stubad. i cant join cuz u eventually have to pay and i cant afford it :( wish i could tho need to get rid of some of this blubber. lol

hey i joined free of charge got all the packs and an accurate weight then i didnt go back as i got all that i needed, naughty i know but solved a problem, money is tight hun but its worth it if u just do that

lol that made me giggle. :) is there nothing they can do to make u pay after? what did they give u? im defo guna try it ;) naughty us lol

lol no they can't do a thing as your first meeting is ur chance to see if its for u and then just dont go back lol, i got a folder in with meal ideas points calculator and easy daily points system including a 40 point treat weekly, it has nutritional info and guides to portion size, its very good it also has a chart so u can plan ur meals

lol. defo going to go then. :) just little intimidating as some people there aint fattys lol. but i suppose once is ok, just hope i get the folder knowing my luck they wont have any and will say we will give it to u next time lol.

Is there an NHS run weight loss scheme in your area? We have one, (cant remember what it's called) buts its Logan is 'lose pounds without spending pounds' which I love!
Weight Watchers really annoy me because they seem to prey on people's insecurities by encouraging them to keep coming back week after week even when they've reached their goal weight.
Good luck with your weight loss, I'm in the same position, wanting to lose some weight pre-op and I was terrified that if I did I'd be below the criteria BMI but I've been reassured that it's your weight on referal that counts.

lol @ Drama queen.....we are all worried at one stage or another during the process of pre and post bypass, I even went and applied for life insurance but because i'd had a Tia and Cereble spinal fluid incressed around my brain the computer said NO  so i wrote little cards to family and friends detailting my wishes for my childrens future in the "event of"! knowing what i know now i wouldn't have been that worried at all, I actually felt a bit of a prat after the surgery as i'd even gone to the length of one last night on the town with my friends in the "event of" it seemd for weeks before the surgery that was my catchphrase but as i say you are in superb hands xx

I was 14 & 1/2 stone and size 24/26 clothes, im very short so i didn't carry the weight well, it was mainly all tummy but also rugby player shoulders and back, bum was a ok lol, I was bypassed by the amazing Guy Slater on 13/09/11, by Christmas time i had A gallbladder problem and had that removed on 4/01/12, i'v heard this can be a common problem and sometimes they dont need to intervene with surgery so its a lottery where thats concerned, i have lost What Guy Slater Calls Considrable weight since surgery at christmas i was a size 16, and then in feb i was a size 12 i'm now a size 10 but if i didn't fill my skinny jeans with the excess skin i'd be a size 8 x I have gone from a 44f to a 32G ( i know its a bigger cupsize then before but its all skin), I dont regret it and compared to most my recovery was a breeze, i do suffer sickness on eating but after a clear endoscopy its possible the sickness is a psycological problem rather than a physical one x As for the sweating i had that too but not got it now:D x

Have they given you a date yet?

The ward is like a comfy hotel (just shared with strangers that become friends before you go home) the Staff are amazingly compasionate and nothing is too much trouble, My nurse was a lady called Andrea and she made me feel so happy and secure that i knew everything was going to be okay, I thought id be a emotional wreck but as it turned out i didn't cry once :D(even After surgery).

Every day i want too :17729:but know it will make me sick if i did so i dont and as you say life being big isn't fun, hopefuly like me the bypass will give you back your life :D:D:D x

omg im so delighted for u sound like u are really happy. and your size now is amazing. :) well done.
im size 20-22 weight 17 1/2 stone bra size who knows lol.
how do u feel about the excess skin? this is also what i am worried about after losing the weight.
no date im only at the beginning of the journey, not long been refered by my dietician for wls so just waiting for appointment with consultant.
i hope when i do have it done that the staff are good because i recently had my wisdom teeth out and was a lovely hospital with sh!t staff didnt get a drink for nearlly 3 hours later and was just left to it :(. not a nice expierence.
hopefully this time next year it will be me writing to someone about my success story. if i can get to a size 12-14 i will be delighted as havent been that size since i was 16. :O
do u have any pain from the op now? xxx

evenstarr im not sure if we have the same thing here. will have to find out. but im going to weight watchers just to get the folder hehe. and they cant keep me coming back as im stubborn and will probs tell them i think they rubbish hehe.
really good to hear that u have been told exactly the same thing as me about referal weight, its a sigh of relief that they dont just send u away. and with both of us being told that im guessing it is defo right.
:)

I think my BMI was around 38 on the day of my op. I had lost 6 stone pre op. The surgeon said the bypass is as much a tool to help maintain weight loss as it is to help weight loss. He also said weight loss made his job easier :)

Good luck x

hey fuffs thanx for reassuring us. good to hear they dont just say it and they actually follow through with what they agree.
wouldnt be fair if they refusued after u lose a bit.
xx
