Dietician call

Red 42

novice bypasser
I was supposed to have my first chat with a dietician this afternoon at 4.30pm by telephone......and I'm still waiting

I really should have had one last week before I moved back onto normal food and had to chase my provider (THG) for this appointment....it looks as though my fears of receiving little or no aftercare from them are going to be a reality:(

I feel a very large letter of complaint coming on as there were aspects of my pre op arrangements that I wasn't impressed with, but was just waiting to see how the follow up arrangements panned out first....GRRRRR!!! :flamingmad::flamingmad::grumble:

Oh Yvonne how disappointing for you it is awful when you wait and wait and then nothing, you are right you need to let them know exactly how that leaves you feeling.
Hope you can catch up with them soon

Jay xx

thanks ladies...I'd heard whispers that THG were rubbish for aftercare, but not until I'd had my surgery done and it was too late then...they have my money.
Luckily, they did come through ok with my x-ray appointment as that is being done at Leeds Nuffield next Wednesday and their x-ray department rang me direct to arrange the appointment, but that's not the point, I went with them because I didn't want to chase around for aftercare elsewhere :sigh: you live and learn!

Cant tell you how disgusting this is - you paid a fortune for your op and now they cant be bothered - threaten them with legal action - should get them moving! Its your life they are messing with.

certainly will be doing that...it's appaling how they leave people high and dry like this...I just thank my lucky stars that I've been fit and well since the op and am so pleased that I didn't have a biggie like a bypass with them...I'd have been so worried after hearing some of the other 'minis' stories

Just wanted to say I hope all goes well for you...It is so wrong to do what they are doing to you.

I hope you feel alright.

~hugs~

this is just typical of THG they are crap with aftercare, there great when taking your cash but the after care is crap unless you live near them and litrally bang on the door, ive said for a long time that they should be exposed on tv for there poor sevice. a freind of mine had the same problem so i rang them telling them i was interested in surgery (them not knowing i was already banded) they repeatedly phoned me lots of times over the coarse of a week in the end i said why are you constantly phoning me shouldnt you be ringing the patients you already have regarding there after care, i said but oh no ! you have there cash now so there just left so now your looking for more, and i hung up on them, they are shocking and i wouldnt recomend them to anyone.

you're right there Liz...they were very efficient with the consultation but as soon as they've got your money, you have to chase them for everything. I really would have been as well off taking the no frills package and saving £1000 :sigh:

I don't usually make a fuss and generally give folks the benefit of the doubt but on this occasion I think they're taking the Pish and will be having my say!

personally i think all the minis members thats had bad aftercare from THG, should send a email to watchdog as this poor service has been going on along time now and the more ppl speak up the better x

truly shocking. surely if you paid for this service , the service is what you should be receiving. if this is not the case then surely something "legally" can be done about this, because the company is offering this service and clearly not providing 100% of their promise

I'm so glad to read this thread. I went with THG from here in Dublin. Before my Op I had Judy on the phone all the time making sure I went with them.

I had my op in Birmingham at a cost of £10,000.00. I left the hospital with no information what so ever re after care. 5 days after the op I phoned to speak to a nurse to ask 1) what should I be eating 2) when to take off the dressings 3) what was the next step.Only then did she make an appointment for my Barium Swallow,

I've had 1 phone call from them nearly 4 weeks later to arrange my first fill next Friday, the nurse asked would I like to speak to the dietitian on the phone or in person.I have paid a huge amount of money for this so I told her I want a 1 to 1 meeting with the dietitian.Hopefully that will happen next Friday when I get the fill.

I thought it was just bad aftercare for me because I'm not in the UK, but I can see from here that is not the case.

I will speak to them next week and let them know how dissatisfied I am with the whole thing.I dread to think what would have happened if something had gone wrong.

Thank goodness for this forum , its where I have got most of my information re WLS.

End of rant!!!

Hiya

I can totally sympathise with you. I had my band fitted with the Hospital Group, and it was done at Dolan Park. Luckily enough for me, I had the cheap and cheerful, and I have ongoing support, dietician, Consultant and counselling, all arranged through the NHS. I paid for the surgery privately as I didnt qualify for the NICE guidelines. I would not reccommend the Hospital Group to anyone. They are like used car salesmen. Treat you like you are royalty UNTIL they get your money, then you are not worth spit to them. I sent a letter of complaint to Sally at the Hospital Group, and it was never replied to. They have absolutely diabolical aftercare, it is, NON EXISTENT care to be honest. My advise for anyone looking for this surgery, STEER CLEAR OF THE HOSPITAL GROUP!!!!. They might be cheaper than a lot of the others, but you pay for it, and it is less than next to nothing.
MNL:rolleyes:

thank you all for your replies :)

it really helps to know that I'm not the only one in this predicament, but THG are committing daylight robbery and are no better than doorstep thieves preying on vunerable folks, because that's what we are...when you get to the stages of even considering WLS you have reached your lowest point and they will know this!

I will try and call them in the morning and if I'm still not satisfied with their response then I'll have a letter of complaint on their desks early next week (with the threat of legal action and media exposure just to spurr them on their way  :D)

OMG thought I was the only one having problems with thg I have just had a letter from them changing an appointment with a dietician that I didn't know I had this is not the first time I nearly missed my last fil as they hadn't sent me info of appointment only found out as I called them day before to get an appointment sorted after waiting so long, they gave me an appointment then phoned back to say you have an appointment tomorrow. I also think it's so wrong to have dietician appointment over the phone you could be talking to anyone (proberbly are) I too would not recommend them I agree with Liz something needs to be done.

ok peeps im now gonna start another thread, im nhs but have gone undercover and rang them as a potential patient when my friends have needed after care i get a phone call nearly every day when they sould be putting those efforts into the patients they already have.
