Doctor Agrees......

Hiya bridie, how come your GP has given you the news that you have been denied. Denied by who? He should have refered you to a specialist, then they make the decision if you fit the criteria to apply for funding from your PCT. So I would go back to your GP and ask to be refered on. I hope you don't give up, go back chucks, Good luck.x

Doesn't work like that everywhere unfortunately. In my PCT you don't see a specialist until you have funding in place.

Hi Shel, but is it not true that you can demand to be refered on? A GP can not refuse to refere! x

Not sure Ellie, my GP had a pathway to follow, so technically he did refer me to someone, just not the surgeon. As they sub-contract out to a private hospital, there would be a cost to an initial consultation.

Hi
Same here - you dont see a specialist until PCT funding has been approved . The GP's here have to write a letter stating all the obvious, what methods you have tried - she prescribed me diet pills referred to CD etc etc over a couple of years and all the info on you.
She did check the critertia beforehand for me and I did fit it - but maybe another GP's opinion ???? - or if you dont fit your areas criteria is that it ????? seems so unfair so different in so many areas
xx
