Don't wanna sound stupid but.......

........can we get tummy bugs, or even be sick apart from when we over eat or get something stuck, Its just that my kids have been throwing up and i'm worried what will happen if i get their bug! xx

I to have thought this...!
Logic would dictate that it would still occur...
The question for me would be about the risk of dehydration.
Pre op you have a stomach size that would absorb a little fluid...but with a pouch surely the volume of water absorbed would be alot less..??.
I will keep an eye on this thread to see what other say..

Good question.
We went to visit the in laws the other day and f.i.l had been throwing up all night and felt horrible but was blaming his pipe tobacco, saying it had been too strong and made him sick. We came home and within 24 hours hubby had a bit of the runs and was vomitting for 12 hours+ and then his mum got sick too, so basically anybody in the house that day caught that bug...except for me!!! Ive jinxed myself now I bet but I am the only one that hasnt gotten sick, Im wondering if its because I had that horribly nasty bug a month or two ago when I had violent runs for ten whole days and nights, maybe my stomach is a bit more resistant. Then again maybe I am just a lucky sod, over the past four years my entire family have suffered norovirus and all manner of similar bugs and even though Ive been around an entire family of very poorly people the worst I ever got of it was the runs, that was pre-op as well as post-op.
Im taking it that (touch wood!!!) I have just gotten very lucky.
I guess that we are prone to just as many bugs as your average person but would be interested to hear a proper answer.

ooo errr, judging from the way we tend to vomit, id hate to get a tummy bug, the runs maybe, but being sick i would imagine would be very distressing. i really hope someone does know the answer to this. fingers crossed for you steph and nadine. xx
