Dumping - how is it for you, bypassers?

Brunetteandred

Officially a loser
As a newly bypassed bod, I would like to see how many on here dump and if you do:

1. what foodstuff probably caused/causes it
2. what symptom(s) you got/get
3. and how long did/does it last?

Ive not officially dunped but on taking a couple of sips of a orange drink and also a coffee made with full fat milk i had a very light headed moment which was enough for me to stop drinking both drinks. but i am convinced if i had of continued i would of dumped big style.

I can help with this one.

1. what foodstuff probably caused/causes it

I have dumped on proper sugars, in fudge, as I ate too much.
I have dumped on simple carbs (white bread, pizza dough).

2. what symptom(s) you got/get

Light headed, racing heart, dizziness, nausea, sweating, temperature, feel very weak, tearfulness. Horrid.

3. and how long did/does it last?

The best way I deal with mine is to sleep, if I go to sleep for an hour, I generally feel fine after.

I have had the light headed 'I may dump' feeling several times, the number one culprits were orange juice (2x) and a fruit smoothie. When it comes to fruit juice, I think sometimes the fructose is concentrated and moves through your system quickly as a liquid so it can cause a mild dump. Also something I have noticed is that the jump in sugar from oj can keep your sugar high which in turn can make any simple carbs you eat in the next hour be too much and you can dump. I had a piece of bread after a glass of oj and had a bit of sweat and racing heart, only lasted for a few minutes but was not nice.

I think i am very much in the middle of a dump.

I feel sick, my head is killing me, im tired, im sweaty (even though i hav a fan pointed at me), ive had to pay a visit to the loo, i feel lousy...

And i think pasta sauce may be to blame (i had some mixed with tuna), or a protein shake.

I feel like crap... i really really do.. and the noises my insides are making!!! oh my!

Sounds like too much fat in your diet or whatever you ate recently ! i've done this myself and spent a day on the loo

This is just one form of dumping, i get exactly the same from time to time, not sure what brings it on as i'm a bit of a creature of habbit and tend to stick to the same foods, i.e cerial for breakfast etc, normally a sit down and a cup of tea for half an hour sorts it out, and on a couple of occassions i've felt the need for a sleep.

I don't appear to dump at all. I say appear because never say never but to this day I haven't yet had a dump! I have eaten simple sugars and simple carbs with no ill effect at all.

In fact I have just eaten three McVities Digestive biscuits!

However the big difference is that I am now satisfied with three whereas before I would have eaten the whole packet.

If I eat too much my heart rate speeds up but that is it.

I don't really think of myself as 'lucky' as I think it would be a good way of keeping a check on your eating.

I checked the pasta sauce, and it was something like 1.3g of fat and around the same of sugar.. so im totaly stumped, i am still in the very early days, so that might be all it is.

Im trying to up my protein as im finding drinking protein shakes near impossable!
So i'd imagin at the moment im only getting aroung 20g protein a day, which is shocking :(

any ideas?

Havent dumped yet i dont think. I havent taken the risk of having anything with too much sugar or fat, the thought of dumping puts me off.

Not sure, your not long post op so it could be your body adjusting, though if you have diareha thats says to me to much fat in your food ! i did it with a can of thai curry soup, you could literally see the oil floating on the surface, it was nice but mu god did i pay for it !
As i say i'm no expert on dumping as i really dont suffer from it myself though i'm aware there are different forms of dumping !

I can understand this, however you need to know and learn what makes you dump (if you do at all dump ?) if you dump at home then you can deal with it, if you dump in the shopping centre or when out at a resturant etc etc then its a different situation to deal with. If you know what makes you dump you can avoid it

I seem to dump easily. Symptoms vary but normally have to varying degrees a racing heart, clammy cold sweating and diarrhea.

Things that have triggered it include half a tin of baked beans, a jaffa cake, low fat frozen yoghurt, a bite of a sarnie that had chutney in it, salad dressing and a hot chocolate drink.

I pay close attention to the sugar content of things I buy at lunch now and if I keep the sugar content low at any one meal I seem to be okay.

Diabetic caramels from Boots (just like Werthers) have kept me sane!

wethers do a sugar free werthers original taste the same as the proper ones But dont eat to many or you will need the loo

i dump on most things, tonight was an activia yogurt, have had them before and been fine, it`s weird. The worst ever was fresh mackeral, thought i was going to die, and worst thing is you cant be properly sick after. Grim. at the moment am eating huge amounts of watermelon, prawns and salad. cant go wrong.
