Evening , hope everyone is ok. I went for my pre op assessment on friday ready for my op on Wednesday and they say that the day after the op they give you pureed food. Cant believe this is so quick. What sort of food was you given if any in hospital ?

hi, i was in hospital 7 days and wasnt given any food but i have seen on here some people having food the next day someone even had a rich tea!!!!!!

In hospital I was given runny scrambled egg, jelly, and then some indescribable mush. It was interesting shall we say!

I had something that looked like dirty dish water (they said it was soup) and liquid for 3/4 weeks

I had clear soup on first day then weetabix for breakfast and puried mash / veg for rest of meals then home after 3 nights and on puried food for 10 days now on mushy foods but can eat anything after 4 weeks and have only been sick once when i ate a little late and rushed food.

Blimey you are all doing well, i thouht it would be about 8 weeks before I would be eating mashed foods. So hungry and only been on the milk diet for 4 days, such a lightweight ha ha x

I suppose all hospitals are different and have there own way of doing things. Keep up the good work, it won't be long now x

I had my op at the Spire Manchester, I was only in overnight so for my brekkie I had a strawberry yoghurt and a pot of tea. Presentation was nice though silver tray with doilys ect. ;) then after that at home it was liquids 2 weeks, puree 2 weeks, soft food 2 weeks, then solids. Hope this helps. but each area is different so just go off your sheet which they give you. Gail

Hi,

I am going to have to pre cook all my food I think and freeze it. Hubby can just about manage spag bol and a fry up. Too have to puree it as well he will go into meltdown.

It all seems very different between the different hospitals.

I hope St Richards has nicer puree.

I bought ice cube trays and prepared on a weekly basis, 1 x veg & 1 x mash. I had 2 veg to 1 mash then grounded tablespoon of fish or meat, but this was on my4th week. :p

in hospital 3rd day after surgery I had soup for lunch, well 'they' said it was soup.... Dinner was mash n cheese as nothing else looked appealing....'yummy' lol /sarcasm off

Then the usual routine clear liquids/purees

BTW be careful when you decide to puree stuff before you go in for your op, as your taste buds may change immensely. I made 2 ice cubes of food that I thought I would want, ended up binning them.
