hi my name is joe
i got a gastric band 4 years ago
i lost 5 stone but it was a struggle
so i asked my surgeon (mr galloway)
if he thought i could get a bypass
and after xrays and some other tests
he said in his opinion that would be the right way to go
now i have been for my pre op.Could anyone tell me if this is more dangerous op (i am a coward)to get the band removed in the same op and can it be done
laparoscopy.
i will be going for the op because i have been overweight as long as i can remember
but the band did not work for me i no it usually works so im not knocking it

hi joe and welcome :)
i got a gastric band 4 years ago

im a ex bander of 2 previous bands and im now a bypasser.
i lost 5 stone but it was a struggle

im 18 months post op band to bypass convertion and my band was removed and i was bypassed during the same op, some times they want ppl to have a 6-8 weeks gap between removal and convertion, that depends on the surgeon and also how your tummy is during the band being removed.
i will be going for the op because i have been overweight as long as i can remember
but the band did not work for me i no it usually works so im not knocking it

good luck i hope all works out well for you x
