Funding is the hard part, so well done!

They do a few tests to make sure your heart etc.. Is up to the operation so dont worry.

I got my funding in August and my first appointment was the end of September but it does depend on the hospital and how busy they are.

Good luck x

thanks guys i got my letter my appointment is 7th janaury at heartlands to see mr nijar has anyone seen him and know what he is like ? thanks zoe

hopefully you wont have to wait too long!

how do you know if you have funding?? I did wmc and was told I had qualified for surgery and the doc was going to send the forms off to whoever but I've never had a letter saying I've got funding but I've got an appointment to see the surgeon and others so does that mean my funding is in place??

What I understand is they will apply for funding once you have seen the surgeon. I'm in a similar position just waiting for my appointment with the surgeon at derby royal. Docs don't seem to know the nxt step which is a pain when your really eager to get going. It's just a waiting game ?

Sent from my iPhone using WLSurgery

i think it all depends on where abouts you are i was told after doc applys if you get an appoiment with surgeon then uv got funding x

I had email on friday to say I've got funding after 25 months waiting hopefully I won't have to wait much longer . I live in Cornwall

Hi lee, I'm in Merseyside and I had to wait for my funding to be approved before I was referred to a surgeon. Seems pointless seeing a surgeon (and a waste of money) if you don't have funding surely?

Well the way I see it chic is, if you are seeing the surgeon and the physiologist etc the funding must be there I'm from Walsall so that's what I'm hoping. :) good luck

hi guys my doctor refer me to a weight specialist doctor who said he is the one who applies for the funding for me he will take my case to a panel who then decides, that was in aug then in oct i received a letter frm him stating he got me funding for my op and a appointment would come through to see the surgeon in heartlands hospital which is the 7th jan then im not sure then x

good luck with your appointment

Lee you're right- I didn't hear anything about funding either - just had letters saying when my appointments were and sailed through from there
