Grrr the wait.....

Just a little moan. I appreciate every one has had to go thru this long drawn out process but I am really struggling. It been 5 weeks since my referral letter was sent from my gp. Could peeps give me a little idea of how long they waited as I am clueless? Thank you - Jude xx

Think I waited a couple of months after my referral letter was sent off from my GP but I think all areas are different and I'm afraid it's a waiting game and it's not unusual for the whole process to take 2 years from referral to op assuming everything goes smoothly. This of course is different for different areas so don't worry too much. It does help to keep ringing and pester a bit. Hope your wait isn't too long where you live. It's certainly worth the wait in the long run. Good luck.

Place yourself into a positive mind. You've been referred by your GP, so there's obviously cause for concern. Start the diet and excersise and get yourself onto the road of shedding those unwanted pounds before the consultant starts asking you. Anything lost goes into your favour and can speed things up a little.

I think that hospitals have to respond within 8 weeks of getting a referral.

my exact dates are this -

14 dec 2011 - GP Referred

(approx 4 weeks later ) on 11th Jan 2012 - recieved letter from Derby hospital saying i will get appointment within 13 weeks of this letter

(approx 2 weeks later) on 27th Jan - recieved letter with date

(approx 1 month later) on 28th Feb for first appointment.

Have you checked with your GP as to when your referral was sent?
There have been people on here who wait patiently and then find the GP "forgot"

I suggest if your GP has sent it that you find out who they have referred you to and phone the hospital direct.

Good idea I called my surgery this afternoon and my gp is off so she asked me to call early monday morning to get put on her telephone consultation list. So I can ask where when ect then. I'm just constantly thinking about it now as it feels to me 'what if' and playing out different scenarios ??? I am trying to keep busy and not think about it but it is such a massive deal I can't help it. Thank you for the advice every one fingers crossed I will hear very soon xx
