Hi guys just wanted to keep you updated with my progress I've just come back from seeing my gp and I asked her to weigh me you know there scales being more accurate Any ways im exactly 2weeks post op today and I've only lost half a stone since my op I'd lost a stone previously on the pre op diet do it's. Stone and a half since the first of dec but im still gutted that. It's only half a stone since surgery I really thought it would have been more then that I believed it just fell off after the op anyways don't wanna go on moaning but I'll keep u updated with my progress

im sure it will start to drop off little by little iv read on here that the same has happened to loads of other so your not on your own good luck x

everybody loses weight at different levels.. so dont give up hope hun x

Is it possible that your body is in shock? You might just need to recover and heal before you become a shadow of your former self (size wise!)

That is more than I lost in my first 2 weeks, Jonny :( Give your body a chance to heal & make sure you eat & drink enough. In the next few weeks you will see it come off just as I have ... don't get despondent :wave_cry::wave_cry: xxx

im sure it will get better n good luck x

But how DO you make sure you're eating and drinking enough when you physically can't?

Ruthie write on here what you eat in a day hun xx

OK here goes. take it that I don't add sugar to anything. Splenda or sweetex. And I drink my tea without milk, but with lemon and fresh ginger. I have huge mugs of tea, which I sip from throughout the day.

Breakfast: 1 weetabix with milk (200ml maybe, prob less). Tea without milk.

Lunch: I cup of carton vegetable soup (kosher version of covent garden vegetable soup) with about 30g of light grated cheese on it for protein.
80g of smoked salmon.
bit of lettuce and one cherry tomato (only the inside), first day of solids so experimenting.)
Small cup of light bio yoghurt. (100ml)

Supper will be:

Either small piece of chicken or white fish.
lettuce and tomato (now I know I can eat those without pain).

Later: Possibly either one banana OR a slice of mango.

that's it.

Half a stone is actually very good and a stone and a half in a month is excellent!
Ruthie-try adding milk to your tea to up your cals and calcium. Even better at your stage to make some double milk and use that.
It's protein you need to think about, not calories
xx

I haven't had milk in my tea since I did WW back in the 1980s. I can't stand it now. I do have extra protein in the form of bio yogurt every day and I concentrate on protein in all my meals so I think I'm OK with it, but my tea with lemon and ginger is my drink and I ain't gonna ruin it with milk!

Jonnywin half a stone in 2 weeks is good that's averaging a stone in a month. don't get too bogged down in loosing it too quickly, we all want it to go (ideally overnight!) but slowly slowly catchy monkey. Most professionals will tell you it's better to lose it slowly and gradually rather than quickly.

Hi Johnny, I was bypassed on 14th December too and I've lost 8lb since then. Our bariatric specialist nurse up at SRH has told us to put the scales away...easier said than done I know  I can however feel a massive difference in my clothes already in these 2 weeks since the op, much more than what the scales reflect.

it's still early days and I'm putting the steady pace of weight loss down to only being able to take gentle exercise and minute food portions. hopefully the WL will really kick in when we're more healed & able to be more active :)

What about having a milky hot chocolate or ovaltine?

Another viewpoint is different scales. Heartlands community weight management scales seem to weigh 7lbs less than the ones in weight management clinic at the hospital. So your GP's scales may be different to the hospital. So don't take it as gospel :)

7lbs is great anyway :) So well done and keep going x

Ohhh Rayne, now you've done it.......... I'm going to have to go and make myself a milky coffee now lol. It only takes one metntion for me to have to give in to one.
