Hi Donzi

Welcome to Mini's!

I'm having a band fitted in 11 days time. I'm paying £6,600 privately for it through Spire hosital group but I was accepted on the NHS, I just didnt want to wait for it. I think it is between 6-12 months wait from funding being accepted. Fingers crossed for you Doll, keep us informed as to how youre getting on!xxxx

i was nhs banded i spoke to dr asked to be refered then got appointment with consultant thru once funding was approved he then offered me either bypass or band i chose band and then had to wait 6mnths for op which i had 5wks ago

hi, i am having my op on monday ! with the hospital group at dolan park. i havent millions to loose so nhs was not an option. they dont understand how weight makes you feel inside. i just want this weight off forever!

Hi I am currently going through the process for funding, have got to the point now where I have seen the Consultant, seen the surgeon and have been recommended for bypass surgery. The surgeon has written to the PCT requesting funding. I meet all the NICE criteria just need them to say yes. It's not been an easy ride to get to this point. The PCT received all the paperwork last friday (10th), it has to go to the clinicians, they check it over and put it to the PCT panel....good luck...xx

Hi Donzi,

The NHS funding procedures alter so much from one area to the next, so waiting times and likelihood to get funding are so varied.

It can be a long, hard, emotional journey for some, but you'll find plenty of support here :)

thank you

i was told about this site and how much support there is on here i am amazed at how many of you answered me, i have some news from yesterday, the doctor has requested to see me apparently regarding bariatric surgery so i have a feeling it could be my funding, im seeing him today at 4.15 so i shall let you all know how i get on, thanks to thoses of you who welcomed me
much love
donzi xx

Good luck for this afternoon :) He may need more info from you for the PCT or it may be a decision! fingers crossed.
