Hey there

Just wondered if anyone who has had bypass passed any stitches when goin to the loo. I noticed one in the lavatory pan today and wondered where the heck it had come from. This might be tmi lol but I hadnt strained or anything

Sorry Phoebe, not come across this situation before. Hopefully someone can help.

its lovely to have you back with us by the way. How are you feeling?

Not heard of it before, I would give the ward a ring where you were looked after and just mention it.

Thanks Ladeeeeeeeeeeez :)

I'm not hurting more than to be expected and I would have thought that if for want of a better phrase I had bust a gut (eek) I would be feeling it by now or there would be some other sign that something was wrong.

There is always the possibility that I didnt shut up gabbling on and they stitched my mouth together haha and I swallowed the stitch ;)

I will ring the ward though. Or, will wait for hubby to go to collect the rest of my blood thinners from them and he can ask them then.

I'm ok thanks Sam, still tired as sleep has been eluding me, not being able to take my usual anti inflams for back and hip is making it quite difficult for me to move around in bed, but its just something I have to deal with.

Its nice to see you all here :) and 'xcitin to know I'm now on the same side as y'all :)

I keep getting up and moving around to try keep joints moving. Pop on the pooter to have a wee look then back to bed!

Someone on the pregnancy section was saying about sleeping on top of a sleeping bag zipped up inside out, so the two shiny sides are together, as the slidiness makes it easy to turn over :) Ok so it was aimed at pelvic pain but if it works!

Hi Roch

post op you arent supposed to take non steroidal anti inflamatories (nsaids)as they are too harsh, that includes aspirin. I did not find this out until a day or two before the op when Hopelesscase mentioned not being able to take any. I done some research and there is divided opinion, some say not good to ever take them post operatively and others inc my consultant said that I can start having them again about 3 weeks post op as long as they have been crushed. They did offer diclofenic suppositries which are nsaids which I graciously declined!

I think I will discuss with my gp alternatives to the nsaids once I am healed as I do not want my new pouch damaged by them.

Am using paracetmol sugar free liquid if I need to take anything for the bypass pain but have only had it once today.

Actually that is my one bit of advice for those having their ops soon, the co codamol soluble are soo yuk tasting, it is impossible to sip it and you cannot gulp it like you would pre op. I would advise you to pack a bottle of sugar free age 6+ paracetamol and let the ward staff administer it to you when needed. I know it isnt as strong as co codamol and in itself doest taste good but it is so much easier to stomach. The other option was, a crushed paracetomol in water....not good trust me!

Ahh thanks Shell

I am using a beanbag and it has been a godsend, so glad I remembered tendersage had got one when she had op.

I havent turned the cover inside out though, might givr ot a go
