How many ops per day?

I suppose it depends on the surgeon, what surgery they are doing and if its private or nhs. NHS surgeons have time slots, (I believe), if they get a case that takes a bit longer than it should then they normally have to drop off the last patient from the list due to theatre times.

I had my band fitted privately, and I was the 6th patient of the day, there was one more after me, so 7 in total for that day, all were having bands fitted.

From what I can tell from most the bypass diary threads here 3-4 per day is normal for many surgeons but MNL is right, it varies from sugeon to sugeon and hospital to hospital.

From what I could see with Mr Khan he normally did 7/8 bypasses on a Sunday, around 5 midweek and he would save the difficult ones/higher risk patients for a Fri so would do perhaps 3 tops.

That obviously wasn't set in stone because one Fri he did loads, also Mrs Heitman was doing her patients in between but nowhere near as many as Mr Khan.

saw on tv last night (American prog) that it takes hr and a half to 2 hrs for a bypass.

There were 4 including me the day I had mine.

These were all in the afternoon so I'm not sure if Dr Ackroyd had done some in the morning at the Hallamshire!

Yea we'll be having ours in the afternoon/evening as we only have to get to hosp at 12.30pm

hiya i was one of 3 for my consultant that day. he did his bypass first then bands. x

Mr Mannur at the Homerton said he does 10 a week. Don't no how he fits them all in as I know he works privately. Unless he was including them in the count.

When I had my band done at the Hallamshire there was 1 lady before me and then I think Mr Ackroyd went off to do his work at the Thornbury. He also does NHS surgery there so he probably does around 4/5 a day.
