I am just wondering, will having an abdominal hernia prevent me from having WLS ?
I was diagnosed with one in february, at the time I had lots of pain in it, but now it doesnt bother me.

Does anyone else go through all these "what if this stops me getting surgery....what if that does?"????

ive heard of lots of people having WLS with hernias - but you'd need to discuss it with your surgeon

I spent my pre-op diet freaking out incase my liver wasnt little enough! we all worry x

If it's a big hernia they often fix it at the same time as they do your wls. I have a small one which didn't affect my op at all.

My surgeon agreed to fix my hernia at the same time as wls,they just apply for more funding if its not already in place.I had quite a big hernia to the left of my bellybutton,he put two big meshes in and Im very happy how it feels!

Thanks for that. I also have a "para-umbilical hernia" stretching out and round to the left of my belly button .... it only appeared this year, I think in April. (I was referred for the bypass surgery in January and neither me nor my GP were aware of the hernia then. When I showed it to him in May he said it would be considered either at the time of surgery or afterwards, there was nothing he would do about it at the moment.)

I feel like an old crock sometimes ..... one thing after another going wrong. Am hoping that post-surgery I start to feel like a repaired crock !!!
