I'm and bypassed

Hi all..just joined..bit of a novice. Did you have bypass Charliegirl..would love to know how your doing..best wishes:)

Hi Sassy welcome to Mini's :)

Hi all my breathing is ok, I think its me to be honest lol...I had problems before surgery like when I walked and talked I would be gasping for breath (hence the op) if I breath in to deep I feel like I will choke so I have to make sure I rgulate my breathing. Propped myself with pillows last night and was able to sleep on my side again as it also helps the breathing, my little cat soon learnt where she could and could not sit and as I was all alone with my son working nights it was nice to know I was not totally alone lol...had a lovely shower and washed my hair going to have some sloppy weetabix...unsure when I can expect to go to the loo as so far I have only had two smalls bowls clear soup and a small yoghurt whilst in hospital and some blended veg soup and some low fat custard and a low fat cheese triangle.....so I realise there wont be much but dont want to get constipated....any advice greatly received....I still feel I have a way to go to catch up on my sleep, when I did sleep last night I had nightmares about my daughter so will write my story up before the end of the week.....xx

linda my list said i had to only have fluids for 2 weeks and they can include
sugar free jelly, sugar free smoothies, low fat yogurt no lumps, low fat ice cream. horlicks light. oveltien, clear cup a soups strained, bovril, fruit juice, strained soups, water, semi skimmed milk.
did you not get diet sheets from the hospital. If not if you come on sat i will bring you a copy or pm me yr address and i will send it.
take care
HC

Hi HC yes I was given the lists but thats all I have wanted just now, only got home yesterday afternoon and was in bed by time corrie came on so did not really want anything....have plenty of the right things in just wonder when I can expect them to start coming out if you know what I mean.....lol...xx

Hi there. Poop talk ahead, be warned! It was 4 days post op for me before I had my first bowel movement. I used Shel's tip of benefiber in my hot broth or hot choc from day 4 on. Although I have not been what I would call my previous normal yet (I was an every day, 2x sometimes), it does happen every other day but I have felt fine (no bloat or constipated feeling). Also getting all your fluids (2000mls) in seems to help move things along which I wasn't able to do until about day 4 or 5. So it was probably a combined effort.

yup start the benefibre before the problems develop, that's my tip!

Thanks girls where can I get the benefibre? I am not up to the full fluid allowance yet cant seem to get it in so hoping to work on that today....xx

Oh, forgot to mention that pain meds (specifically codeine) can constipate you. More pain meds per day = more likely to feel constipated. By day 4/5 for me I was going entire days with no codeine. But if you are in pain, don't skimp. The body needs to rest & heal more than it needs to purge. I am glad to hear that the breathing is under control, that is worrisome to me. Do you use an inhaler? I have mine close at hand always. also, an operation can sometimes cause chest constriction so you may want to try taking 5 deep breaths while holding a pillow to your tummy in case you cough (which is a good thing, it clears the lungs).

Feel good and take care - you're a star!:D

I got mine on the 1st pharmacy aisle at Sainsbury but it probably can be found at most shops. It is lovely 'cause it is tateless, textureless & can be added to hot or cold. I prefer hot cause it dissolves completely & I don't notice it at all.

Yup supermarkets and chemists. I tried fibresure once as it was on offer but it didn't dissolve properly *yuck*. I have mine in cold drinks no probs :)

Thanks for that my son is going to the chemists at morrisons for me when he gets up. I dont use an inhaler but do have one left over from when they thought I was asthmatic. It has been much much better today, only prob I have is feeling a little sickly at any time and of course being tired. Good suggestion with the pillow PG....I cant wait to get weighed now but will wait until I can make it to the shops as I dont have any scales lol...need to get some photos done as well otherwise I wont remember what I looked like...its a lovely feeling to be this side of the fence I can tell you...xx

Glad all is going OK - are those pussycats on hand for TLC if so don't trap one of those behind the pillow by mistake when clutching it to your tummy - they might not like that.

Sorry daft as a brush as usual but hope you are having as super post op day

M

Hi thanks you sound as daft as me lol...my cat charlie the one in the photo wont leave me alone, he is never this loving as a rule keeps cuddling up with me mind you I have to watch he keeps trying to pinch my milk when I close my eyes....it does feel quite lonely though...one of my friends thinks I should be jumping around laughing she forgets the effects anasthetic has on the body and I actually feel a tad weepy, not sure if that's just the blues after the op which they warned me about or me feeling sorry for myself as there is noone here to give me a hug.....:(...I am sure in a few days I will be back to normal whatever that is for me...xx
