Is It Just me?

I hate it too. I was trying some clothes on yesterday and the sales lady called me a "big size 8". Screw you cow!

My eldest just turned 13 and she is taller than me and is probably an adult size 2 or 4. And she knows she is skinny but other girls tell her she is a "bit big" because she has some curves.

What the ***is wrong with curves ?!! I love my new curvy figure and others seem to too, as I'm getting so many compliments ! I'm currently a curvy 14-16, love wearing fitted clothes for the first time in my life and can't wait to be a curvy 12. I don't want to be skinny and don't want to lose this shape I've worked so hard to get, even though there are some things I'd like to change, like my (.)(.) which I have to fold into my bra cos they're so flat. I'm a mature woman (...well sometimes haha !!!) and proud of it.

Good for you Rose, Ib be happy as Larry if I had your figure :D So if thats "curvy" and not deemed as slim then I dont want to be slim!! I hate the look of some of these girls that are so skinny their heads look enormous:eek: whats that about? Its not attractive in my opinion, and according to most womens mags etc men prefer women a bit curvier anyway :D XX

I am fitting in size 8 jeans, size 6 dress pants and size 10/12 tops. I dont personally think that I look that small but hadnt really considered myself to be that curvy. A couple of guys paid me compliments lately and one of the compliments were "I love your shape, your curves, they are very womanly"...now that really shocked me and actually upset me a little because I dont feel curvy. But then I thought about it and Im really glad. If the excess skin was cut away those curves would vanish, so in clothes I do have a fairly nice shape to me and Im really quite happy about it lol
It WAS kind of upsetting when I first heard it though lol

This really gets me annoyed- I longed to be a size 12 for sooooooo long, and yeah, i felt super skinny when i got there too, so hate to hear that 'curvy' word slammed in front of it.

I suppose it is all down to bone structure and height playing a part as well, in my pre-op days people said i never looked as big as the clothes size i was wearing ( though i dont know if they were just being polite lol), because i am tall and have whacking shoulders.

The gastric band has got me to an amazing size 8 now (never thought id see the day, i thought my bones were a size 12 ;) ) but i dont feel like a skinny moo, i feel fab- would go beserk if someone said anything to me like that.

Also love how when i had weight on me no-one mentioned it, now that ive lost it- people are always saying 'Ooooooh you go steady now' 'your looking a bit small', love how it switches and people feel free to comment when they wouldnt before.

Sorry, I just don't get it. What is wrong with curvy ???? Women are meant to be curvy ! I'd hate to be straight up and down. Shoot me if I ever get that thin...

i'm so sick of seeing all this crap about curvy sizes - so what?

then theres the group of kids who are seriously looking at eatting disorders that there so thin

oh hell no - i hate the way weight is so heaviliy veiwed

Curvy size 12 isn't fat, chubby or even cuddly - its slim with curves! 'Curvy' to me means that someone has breasts, hips, a bottom and thighs - all the features that women are supposed to have - in all the right proportions.

'Size' is irrelevant when you know that clothing manufacturers and fashion designers don't stick to the same measurements. How often have the same sized clothes fit in one shop but not another? Size 10 in one, but a size 12 in others and so on...

We've been influenced for too long by so called 'designers', many of whom are effeminite men, who prefer their models to look like undernourished little boys, rather than the women they are .

I for one would rather be a Holly than a Posh - and I know which one my husband prefers - I'm a woman not an ironing board!

I think many of us, well I know me, still associate being curvy with being overweight. I still have loads of curves, big boobs and large bum, but I am still trying to terms with my "new" body.

Hoorah ! I'm with you all the way !
I luuurve my curves :mermaid:

It's laughable... size 12... curvy!

Do these fat measuring scales work? I can't understand them.

Love and hugs everyone xxx

LOL, dunno, I'm too much of a skinflint to pay the extra 25p! 50p a week to get weighed is quite enough!
That's £25.50 a year! :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Well my shape has never been curvy, ive always been very 'block' shaped if that makes any sense (guess boyish really) even when very very overweight i looked like a square.

Being really honest, i always have dreamed of being 'slim',so if someone called me curvy, i think i would want to shoot them.

Its all down to personal prefernce, and our own interpretation of how we look.I think holly looks aaaamazing, shes gorgeous and very womanly, she has that little waist which makes her shape so sexy.

xxx

Overall it appears that to each it's own when it comes to the idea of curvy. But I have to agree that like the movie says "real women have curves". Our curves show that we are fertile. Show attraction or the opposite or same sex since it is a different shape from everyone else. Don't be mad at a compliment, because regardless it still is a compliment.

Please, please, please don't kill me BUT:

Before this surgery I thought that when I reach size 10/12 I'd be over the moon, but now, I kinda think I want to be size 6.
But it is just me.

I think you should stay whatever size makes you happy. And I think, that being described "curvy" sin't a bad thing.... Curvy meant just that you have a female body, not a ironing board. And you can be curvy at size 6 and size 20.
