hiya all,

well i had a call from the docs yesterday, my blood results are back and i have anemia, so have to go on to a course of medication for 8 weeks, my question is has anyone else been through the same problems????

yes is the answer and many of us too xxx I was deficient in vit d as well but till we have blood tests we don't know :) good luck

Yes I was extremely low on vit d dr said and folic acid
But they still did my op and I continued to take my vits but can't take them now until 6 wks post op but that's all my other meds too.

they said they wont do op till they have got it fixed, how did u sort yours out and is there anything i can do to speed it up..... oh and wat op did u both choose???? i was thinking bypass but now im thinkin that a sleeve would be better with the deficiences (cant spell lol)
this has put me on a downer, wouldnt mind but docs did blood tests in september before the hospital and never said owt then. i have been anemic for a year and there tablets cant have worked i had,, ferrous sulphate before... what are u on?

I am on ferrous sulphate too 3 a day vit d 5000iu 1 a day I also take 2 forceval 4 adcal3 and 1symvastatin 4 sulphazalalazine I have liver once a week and peppered mackerel to help boost me up :) I'm starting vit b12 injections next week too because it is very low 6 in 8 days then 3 monthly :) my bloods are taken every few weeks because I have rheumatoid arthritis and the sulphazalalazine tabs lower my immune system too xxx I had DS last week Nov 2011 , I hope you manage to get levels up xxx take care

wow bloody hell they have got you on all sorts!!!

Red meat and beet root are good for iron aswell hun hope you get sorted. xx

I'm just on a high dose of vit D and normal folic acid dose but i've been taking them nearly a yr now(not religiously if i'm honest). I'd still choose a bypass and they would too seeing as they recommended me for it knowing I had deficiencies. If you keep on top of the deficiencies they can be sorted out

ha ha forgot to add amtryptaline as well supposed to help me relax at night so I can get some sleep :) forgot beetroot and we grow the stuff too x

oooohhhh ye i can munch beetroot till it comes out my ears. not a big meat eater really tho, well thats good news as i heard bypass has a faster and more drastic weightloss, so im hoping il get that

do you eat meat much it's just how do you plan to get your protein in I'm not sure how many grams a day bypass need to eat I have to have 100grams which is quite a lot and I eat quite a lot of meat have slim fast milk nuts not much cheese I've never eaten much of that I always have protein bars in home in case I haven't fit everything in :)

I buy them from Holland and Barrett especially when the penny sale is on coz it's price for 2 normal full prices but be careful to make sure you get protein ones not carb xxx they have quite a good selection too :)

well i do eat meat just not alot of it, more coz it costs a fortune more than anything. i eat alot of lentils. i never thought of how much protien id have to work into my new diet. thank u for remindin me, il have to look into it. so slimfast has alot of protein? i was looking at the protein powder from holland and barratt, cud u use that to top up???

yes definitely :) it's surprising how much we have to eat to get the protein in I had a link to a site which gives the protein value for everything to eat :) I am rubbish at technical things but someone else might read this and send you it xx
