Multivits?!?

So, I know it's a good idea to take multivits after surgery - I already take them, tbh, so it's not really much of a problem. I was just wondering which brands/types are best? I have the Bassett's Soft and Chewy atm but will they be ok to use after the op? and if not, can anyone suggest ones that are suitable?

Hiya, had my band last week. Was advised to take chewable for 2 weeks post op then move onto tablet form. xx

My dietician actually had a packet of Bassetts Chewable multivitimins on her desk ready to show me when I went to pick up my pre-op diet. She told me to get started on them right away and to continue with them until I can comfortable swallow the big multivitamins I usually take so I would say they were fine. My only reservation with them is that I always find myself trying to chew them rather than suck them as advised. Terrified I might swallow a big bit after my bypass

Not just a good idea to take them, absolutely vital Taking of vitamins and supplements are essential for ever post op. The best are Forcival as not only do they have the vits we need, they also contain folic acid. Your GP will prescribe them

my doc wouldnt precribe any vits for me, had to go n buy them i got chewableones from boots, their own make. It was 3 for 2 i will try them if not good will have to look at others xx

Just to let you know Joey, that I was also a private patient but my GP prescribes vits, and B12 injection for me.
Speak to the practice manager and see why you cant have them.

i bought A TO Z as advised off dietician, the smell makes me wretch . i have huge trouble taking them but i do as it is so important .

Tell your GP you want Forcival on prescription, get your surgical team to write to him if he doesn't play ball.

I've never heard anything like it I would ask for them again and if they refused I'd tell them I was going to ask the PCT why you are being denied access to the best vitamins.

Im with Karl on this the ******* should be giving you Forceval for life.they will save on all the other meds you would of had without surgery.My gp tried to change my calcium to one half the price of the one I started on.I pointed out that my surgeon wanted me on the right ones and was given them again.Threaten them with the PCT!Maz x

Its all about cost I think, as my GP is now insisting on only giving me 1 month at a time so its costing me £15 a month for my meds. This is new procedure and its because they are all getting control of their own budgets soon. I'm going to get a pre-pay card only £10 a month then. Ive got Forceval though so go and insist on it.
