My average weightloss since bypass

Lisa J

CRYSTAL PALACE FC!
What is everyone's average weekley weight loss since surgery?
Im now 21 weeks and my average is: 3.5lb

I hope you don't mind but I would plead with you not to compare like this. Please don't do this to yourself. It can only dissapoint you or others who have a lower weekly average. It really means nothing because as you get further out it changes and lowers as you get closer to goal. Also some people who have lots to lose will drop massive amounts in the first 3-6 months giving others unreasonable expectations. Also remember that if any male losers chime in you CANNOT compare them to the female losers as they lose a significantly higher rate again allowing for unreasonable expectations.

Age, health conditions, starting BMI, fitness pre-op, gender, previous dieting history and amount of compliance to guidelines all have an impact on the rate of weight loss so PLEASE DON'T COMPARE. It always seems to end in tears for someone.

Sorry to go on, just ignore me if you like as this is only my opinion and you have the right to your own;).

Got to agree with Phatgirl - while it's great that you are excited about your loss rate, there have been many many threads with people expressing their disappointment over their loss rate and this sort of comparison thread merely exacerbates that. Don't mean to dampen your enthusiam having said that!

I strangely find myself in agreement here with Nic over this, ;) i'm almost at the end of my journey and have found that my weight loss has almost stopped, she's right men lose differently to women the obvious being TOM we blokes dont have to contend with !
So it can be dis heartening for someone to compare there loss against someone elses, there are so many differing factors in each of us that make the loss more or less per week............. we will all eventually get there but it may take some of us longer than others !

Wow 3.5lbs a week thats great cant wait to get started. Well done!

Ooops, forgot to say this as well, WELL DONE on your fab weight loss so far, you are doing fantastic and should be well proud!

Great post and so reassuring, I was starting to panic and working out my average weightloss.
Well done Lisa for your fab loss so far.
Thanks Nic for pointing out all the reasons why we don't all lose at the same rate ect.

well done Lisa, agree with nic, we all lose at different rates that depend on so many things. xx
