Thought I'd say Hi to everyone on here, only just found this site. I actually had my op 11 days ago now. Feel good, still on fluid stage. On fluids for 3 weeks then can progress to purée.

Hoping to gain lots of tips from you guys that have already been through it and I hope I can help those at the start of their journey.

Hi and welcome to the site, looking forward to getting to know you. Tell us a little more about yourself, what op did you have? Where did you have it? I was done on the 19th.

A little more about myself.

I started my journey over 4 years ago attending weight management at Salford Royal. I failed to lose weight after having Cushing's Disease in which I had a steroid releasing pituitary tumor. After having it removed along with the additional weight I found I had also now had an under active thyroid.

Doctors from weight management suggested I think about having bariatric surgery. I did not wish to have any surgery so tried sibutramine. That appeared to work and did supress my appetite. I think I lost in total 3 and a half stones. Until they took off the Market due to patients suffering cardiac problems.
Then in 2009 with an increasing BMI of 50 I decided that surgery would now be the only option, this was no easy decision
Funding was only approved this year in June. I attended pre op in August under the care of Mr Ammori. Then finally a call from secretary in October confirming November 21st as my date for gastric bypass.

I attended Salford Royal on 21st November had surgery in the morning everything went well and went home the very next day after having a chat with all the team of specialist nurses, dieticians, doctors and surgeons.

I removed all my dressings on the 25th wounds were great no infection. I have been very lucky and been in no pain at all.

Still on liquid stage of post op diet which is so boring. Can't wait to move on to purée stage. I see from some other posts that each hospital has different post op plans. I have 3 weeks of fluids, then 3 weeks purée before I can move onto soft foods.

Anyway think I have waffled enough. Just thought I'd share my experience.

Hi Raynebubble , I don't feel lethargic at all. I feel really well. As I put in earlier post I think depending on where you have surgery depends on what post op advice they give.
