Hi

I've struggled all my life with weight, I was called Tank at school! I once managed to lose 5 stone but only by eating less than 500 cals (stupid I know!), consequently it went straight back on when I started to eat normally. I think I have tried every diet known to man, I managed to lose 3st with Slimming World and then the weight started to go back on - I ate the same meals as my mum who was going with me, never took money to work so I couldn't cheat and she continued to lose weight and I gained it

I've been referred by my doctor to Charing Cross hospital as she feels surgery is the right thing for me. I have been to a group session in Sept 2011 and have an appointment next week at the eligibility clinic. Any ideas on what to expect next week? I should say that I have had a sleep test and although no apnoea I apparently snore at 70 decibels which they say is quite loud:eek:

Many thanks

Hi and welcome :)

Thanks everyone.

I'm feeling a little worried now - I'm due at St Mary's tomorrow to attend the Eligibility clinic and I've just read on here that Bucks PCT are not funding any weight loss surgery. As my doctor sent me to Imperial College hospital in the first place does this mean I'm already funded? And does anyone know what I should expect at the eligibility clinic please?

Just thought I'd update where I'm at in the process. I saw the doctor and psychologist on the 12th June, I thought I would have to wait ages before my next appointment but about 3 days later I got my next appointment. I saw the surgeon, anesthesiologist, bariatric specialist nurse and the dietician yesterday.

I was given a spiro-ball (aren't they fun ) to do each night and each morning. The surgeon said that hopefully, (all being well), the surgery should be in 4-6 weeks:eek::bliss: I am excited, scared, excited!
