I am now off to get my contraception implant put in as the bariatric nurse was insistant that you need to get on something as soon as possible. I have suffered with PCOS for years so hopefully losing weight may help with the patter of tiny feet....... But not yet! I picked it up from the chemist today and i am shocked at the size of the needle, i have threatened the OH if he is not home to hold my hand i will be inserting that needle somewhere where the sun dont shine. Why is it always the woman who has to go through everything

Ooh yes you defo need him holding your hand! :hug99:

I have PCOS too and I'm hoping having surgery will help me get pregnant! We have been trying for 12 yrs!!

Did they tell you not to get pregnant for a certain length of time?

Mandy I was told not for about 2 years, which I think is quite reasonable. Thanks Jacqui, I am a big baby I hate needles, so hopefully it will be quick and not too painful. I will be brave

Yes right up his ding a ling!

Mine didn't hurt at all to put in, but make sure you have ut removed before the time limit. Mine went about 8 weeks over the three years and it was awful getting it changed.
My best friends mom has had several over the years, and never had a problem though.
xXx

Ok done and dusted, worst bit was the local, did not hurt after that the bandage is not doing a great job, its rolling up my fat arm ! At least that is one less thing to worry about and all that worry free nookie to look forward too. Yippee!!!!!!!!

I would of been too busy elsewhere but he is at heathrow spending the night in a hotel with his best friend/ work buddy! Well that's what he has told me LOL xx

How was it Angel? Sending a humungous hug and loads of love in your direction xxx

Thanks Bev, it's not too bad, it's weird as I have not had to bother with this sort of stuff before because of my PCOS, and really the implant is really the only option we have, apart from injection or coil as the pill can't be digested into the blood stream properly, and at least I haven't got to worry about remembering to take anymore pills, so another weight off my mind.

Glad it worked out ok for you love and good luck with your wls journey... a good weightloss so far.. all the very best of everything xxx

Cheekybum - I'm confused - did you do it yourself at home??? I had to go to the clinic for mine... This is my second one and it was more painful than the first time. Also had problems with my bandage staying put - and it kept rolling up and pressing on the cut, so took it off when I got home and put a plaster on instead.

I asked the nurse while she was putting it in if the implant would be ok after surgery and she said that it probably would be fine as the hormones go straight into the bloodstream, rather than being absorbed by the gut.

I wished I'd known about the surgery 10 years ago as I would have loved to have had children, but by the time I have the surgery and recover time, I'll probably be too old! :sigh:

No i went to my gp but they are open till late! I have had to take the bandage off, because it was rolling down my arm, I am shocked at how long they are. I thought they were smaller than that. Just hoping it will suit me and i am already looking forward to having it out in 2 years, so we can get on with the baby making. At least i should be good at it with 2 years practise xx

phew - just imagine having to do it at home!!! my husband nearly faints when I press my implant so that it sticks out a bit.... (just wanting to show him what it's like).

my first cut was tiny - couldn't hardly see it, but the second is over half an inch.

I haven't had any real problems with it and had no periods for the first 9 months :) But, once it got to the end of the three years I had periods almost every other week -

I only want it in for the next 2 years then it can come out, its a shame men dont go through any of it, it really jar me off how simple they get things

too true! they don't know they're born some times, tsk..
