Oxford patients

I had a gastric bypass, he is a very experianced surgeon and has the support of a great team. he does both NHS (Churchill Hospital) and private patients (Nuffeild Hospital) in Oxford. certainly havent herd any bad reviews. when are you having your surgery?

I'm having the VSG on 6th June at The Manor Hospital. I went to the support meeting on 17th April, which was v good to hear everyone's progress. Were you there by any chance? It was mostly newbies.

Yeah I was the chap sat next to the leader Yvonne making notes, I've started to help run the support group along with Nicci who was sat to my left, she had a VGS few months before me and has lost loads of weight with it. Bruno was her surgeon as well

Oh yes, your story is amazing! You look fab. I was trying to imagine you as a big person when you were telling us all how much you'd lost and I just can't picture it. Amazing!
Well, I'm all booked in and it can't come soon enough. Counting down the days!. I'll introduce myself to you next time I'm at a meeting. I think the next one is for oldies not newbies, so maybe after that one.

thankyou thats very kind of you, here is a picture of me shortly before surgery to the begining of this year, to give you an idea of how big i was to begin with. i will try and sort some current pics of me at some point :D as for the meetings they are generaly open to all. Yvonne and Ray are trying a new format this year to group different stages, in order to add a bit of structure to the meetings and the type of questions people need answering. but yeah feel free to introduce yourself :D what pre op diet have you opted for as not long until you start that ;)

I've opted for two meal replacement shakes and a small evening meal, but we shall see how that works out. I only have to do 8 days of the pre-op so it should be manageable. Liz advised to do all food as most people are so sick of liquids by the time it's post op that it's nice to get as much real food in beforehand. Not sure though.

yeah i can relate to what Liz advised, i done nothing but meal replacement shakes for two weeks. was pretty boring but was a means to an end and i wanted to give myself the best chance during surgery so stuck with it. The only downside was the shakes have very little fibre so constipation was an issue just before and after surgery which was not so nice. so if you can have a meal in the evenings it will certantly help ;)
