painful backside

Does anyone else experience pressure pain in their bottom when sitting down. I have lost about 5 stone now and have about 3 stone to go. The pain when sitting at work or at home watching TV is quite severe. The GP seemed to shrug it of when I told her about it. Help needed!

Sorry to hear that Fizzy :( I expect it's a posture thing due to losing so much weight, your spine etc will have been used to being in a certain position/curve with the weight on you and then it will be trying to compensate and readjust as the fat goes..it's learning to carry you all over again I spose. However, your doc was irresponsible and I would urge you to go see another one in the practice as you might have to be referred to a chiropractor or something...and /or be able to get some sort of special support seat or pillow to help . No need to suffer xx

I agree with Neen you should not of been fobbed off at the drs.

Why should we suffer pain, hope you get it sorted.

I remember someone posting about this a while ago...maybe Stephieack?
Anyhow, they were saying about having a more prominent cocxyx.

Even though I am VERY early days post-op, I'm already finding myself quite uncomfortable sitting with a loss of padding! I was really squirming in the cinema this week! Strange huh?

i have a cocyx cushion which helps a bit, ive used one for years, but now i even have to use it when im sitting in bed, but even then its not really ideal, it just helps a bit.

Yes I get this - it really painful when I sit in the bath - my coccxyx seems to be more prominent than it was when I was slim in my youth. I use a pillow or cushion when sitting for a long while. I saw a programme not long ago about a girl who had lost loads of weight through WLS in America and had an operation to shave some of the bone off of her coccxyx.

i think i might have seen that too stella, although i think the one i saw, she actually had it removed, the surgeon said he had never seen one so badly prominent before. but they do tend to make a few of these documentaries dont they. must admit mine is very sore and prominant. but ive had probs with it for years, its just going worse now unfortunately

Oh yes the pain in the BUM....... I have found that now all I am left with for padding on my bum is folds and folds of loose skin which happens to move when i sit down to leave my bone exposed....now I struggle to sit in one place for any given time, and Ive become a right fidget and I find it easier to lie on the settee when watching tv less painful, not sure if anything can be done!!!

Hugs

i keep saying i need a cushion on my office chair at work hahaha
